My husband's name was
Jamie. Well that was what he was called until he was about thirteen. Actually his middle name was
James and he was called
Jamie by his family and friends during his childhood and through his pre-teen years. At that age, he decided he couldn't stand to be called
Jamie any longer and changed his nickname. He thought
Jamie was way too effeminate and he was being teased for having a girls' name. His experience has stuck with me and that's pretty much what I think of
Jamie for a boy. Well, for a
boy, a
little boy, it's okay, but not for a teen or a grown man. I'd be okay with
James nn
Jamie for a little boy because the formal name
James would give him an option later in life.
Really can't stand
Jamie on a man.
I also have a nephew named
Jaime, but it's pronounced just like
Jamie. His middle name is
Christian. I've never heard that he's complained about his name, but then he's agoraphobic, so I don't think it matters much.
