I like it a lot and would gladly use it; with the proviso that there was (it's died, unfortunately) a tradition in DH's family of naming a son H-name-plus-Daniel and using
Daniel as if it were the fn. And I'd gladly have a
Daniel son as well, so yeah, I'd use it but not use it.
Where I live, there's a language community that can't hear the difference between
Hugh and you. As in: once I'd heard a piece of office gossip from a colleague named
Hugh. I mentioned this to someone else, who said "How did you know?" "
Hugh told me", I said, and she said "No, I didn't!" This makes
Hugo a sensible choice, though I quite like
Hugh as well.
