[Opinions] Marcella
There's a new crime drama airing in the UK in which the lead character is called Marcella - pronouced Mar-CHELL-ah.WDYT? I rather like it. Is it usable? Do you prefer the Mar-CHELL-ah or the Mar-SEL-ah prounounciation? MN suggestions?

Saying "mahr-CHELL-uh" is in keeping with the proper Italian pronunciation, but I'm so used to hearing "mahr-SELL-uh" that that's intuitive for me.I have a cousin named Marcella, though only her mother calls her that. She has everyone else call her Marci (MAHR-see).

I love Marcella! I prefer the English pronunciation, but the Italian is lovely.

Marcella is pretty. Much nicer than the sour, middle-aged Marcia, prettier than the mousy Marcy.
The Marchella pronunciation seems pretentious unless the bearer and her family are Italians.Marcella Faye
Marcella Rose
Marcella Sky
Marcella Joy
Marcella Amber

I love Marcella! It is one of my absolute favorite names. I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't be usable. I saw a little girl with this name not too long ago, I think she was about 2 or 3 years old and it worked just fine.In my head I say mar-SELL-ah, but I like both pronunciations. I also like the nicknames Marcy and Mara.
