[Opinions] Nicole
I have never met a Nicole, but Nicola was fairly common here for a while.Pretend like you have never met that many, what would your opinion of Nicole be?I'm liking her smooth, feminine no-nonsense vibe.

It is pretty but kind of hard at the same time.

I know a lot of Nicoles. It is a boring name for me, but my bestie is also a Nicole, so I have no negative feelings towards the name. Anyway: I do not like it much because it ends in a L sound. I like Nicola or Nika better.

It was bland perky 80s cheerleader for me for the longest time, but when I finally considered it as a name unattached to the girls from high school, I really do like it.
It seems put-together, conventional, and a little reserved, like Lauren.
I also like Nicola and Nicky / Nikki - I like Nicola more than Nicole.

If I pretend never to have met a Nick or Nikki, I like Nicholas and Nikolai. But I've always disliked Cole, Nicole, Nicolette. They sound metallic and cold to me...maybe if I lived somewhere that nickels and coal didn't exist, that wouldn't be the case. Nicola seems a bit warmer. Or maybe I just dislike Nicole in American accents, since it seems nicer to me in French, but I'm American, so...

I love Nicole! She has a softness to her that I really like. And this is an unpopular opinion, but I like her in the middle as well--I don't care if she's too fillerish there.

I don't like it and it used to be very common in the United States, it just sounds plain and boring to me. Nicoletta or Nicolette are nice in my opinion but something about just Nicole has so much usage and it reminds me of so many people that I don't even know what I think of when I hear Nicole. Even if I did not know that many Nicoles, the name isn't special to me. Something about is just not satisfying as a name.

It’s my middle name. I hated it for years, as a kid, until as a teenager I found out my middle name was supposed to be Rose, and my dad picked Nicole because he liked it much better.
Then my opinion suddenly changed for some reason? I hated Rose and was so glad not to be Rose, that Instarted really liking Nicole.
Now, I do like it. It’s a nice smooth name, not too annoying, like Rose,, for me) yet strong and still feminine.

ETAI've never met any anyway. I went to high school with a Nichola, but not Nicole. My sister's first husband had a daughter with his third wife whom they named Nicole. She is my niece and nephew's half-sister, but I've never met her.So I'm not influenced by anyone I've known. I find the name mostly dreary with a little bit of annoying thrown in.

I'm glad you're not influenced by people you have met, but I find often on this board people will focus purely on how popular something is perceived to be as opposed to any other feature.I too have been guilty of that in the past, but I'm now trying to focus on the sounds, history, associations/connotations as opposed to just how popular something is in the US.

I like Nicole. It makes me feel cozy, like Christmas.

I've never liked it. It just sounds a bit off to me. The ending is annoying the way a lot of people say it. Hard to explain but it's like they swallow their l's, and so Nicole sounds like Nuh-COhWWW" with just a hint of an l.
