[Opinions] Edward and Edwin
Really starting to like these two :) What do you think of Edward and Edwin?Edwin is out of the question for me because I already know someone named this and even though he is okay I wouldn't want my child to share a name with him. But I think it's really cool and that it could see a massive comeback. It sounds a bit friendlier and more modern these days than Edward. Now Edward is the one I would actually use. What do you associate it with?I like Ned as a nickname. Opinions? I also kind of like Ed. But I dislike Eddie, is it avoidable?Do you think Teddy works as a nickname (when he's still a baby) before switching to Ned? Or Ed? Or just the full name which I really like as well.Oh and if you had to pick one of these, which ones and why and which one is your least favorite?Edward
Otto
Henry
Finn
Oliver

I prefer Edwin. Mostly because I think "Win" is a much better nickname than "Ed/Eddy"I think Teddy works just fine. The only Ted I know is an Edward. I think if you start with Teddy, it will be organic what happens next. The kid will have more of an opinion and might get confused if suddenly at twelve you call them something different. Basically what I'm trying to say there is you can make the initial choice of nicknames when they're small, but it's out of your hands after that.My definitive ranking of child names:
Henry
Oliver
Finn
Edward
OttoI don't think I really have a reason for this ranking other than "I just like those better".

Edwin is so friendly and adorable and tweedy, I really like it. Edward I associate with....royalty. Princes. It's a sort of purpley colour for me. That "dwa" part is where it comes from, I think. I do think Eddie is unavoidable, sorry! Ned is what I prefer too, but you'd for sure need to prepare yourself to deal with Eddie. Teddy as a baby name words for me; I could easily see myself calling an Edward "Tedward". Of your list there, the one I'd pick is Otto. I love Otto. It's regal/pompous/serious to the point of near silliness at the same time, and that's a quality I love.Least favourite is Finn. Finnegan or Fintan nn Finn is a different story. But just Finn? Not enough happening to keep my attention.
