Help[Opinions] Ja'mar and Ja'mir
Just found these twins on WebNursery. Their brother's name is Ja'ziah. Dad's name is Jamar. It's still so very, very wrong.
Also found a Kyelie Ilycía-Ann. Sure, it's a creative spelling of Kylie, which is itself not so good, but then I see that the parents are Kyle and Kelli. Waaaaay too cutesy.
I was looking for births in my area, and I was surprised to see a single Henry in six months. MN? James. Henry James LN. Both good names, but I find it odd to use a FN/MN that are the FN/LN of someone fairly well-known (author). I would definitely google possible name combinations before setting my heart on something.
On a positive note, I found a Marcella, which I though was adorable to begin with, and then when I clicked and saw MNs Antonia-Elizabeth, I was just smitten. It's a bit long, overall, but lovely.

Jamar (x2), Ja'mir, Ja'ziah! Talk about keeping it in the family. It's just too obvious. Let me guess the mom's name is Jasmine. I once knew a guy called Jamal (meaning handsome in Arabic if I remember correctly). It's one of my secret favourites.
Kyelie - atrocious spelling of the name Kylie. The spelling of Kelli is pretty unappealing also (imo). Kyle, Kelli & Kyelie - just wrong (imo). The worst example of cutesy I ever heard was when a Michelle & Deon I know opted to name their child Sheldon (shel from Michelle & do_n from Deon).
I know Henry is so under-used! It's such a classy choice. I agree - good idea to google. You would be amazed how many Elton (fn) Johns (mn) there are in South Africa.

Kelli & Kyle are going to smack themselves eventually when one of them says a name and two people come running. The 'yelling at the end of the house' test--or whatever it's called--is usually for siblings, I think, but in this case it's for the parents, too.
I'm not familiar with Henry James, but I agree it's a good idea to google possible name combos. I've seen quite a few boys named Dylan Thomas--and after other famous people and literary figures that I can't think of right now--that I'm sure didn't enter the mind of the parents when naming their child. :b
Marcella Antonia-Elizabeth is way too frilly for me, but pretty nonetheless.
Speaking of Henry, it's apparently a popular name in my neighborhood--3 young boys that I know of named Henry. And I live in a "rich" part of town, so it may be trickling down to us 'average' folk soon. Ugh. I should've known it would becoming overly popular since I started liking it. :( [BTW, I'm not "rich" by any means. My little quadplex apt. brings down the property values around here I'm sure. But it's gorgeous around here, barely any crime. Just a lot of people with their noses stuck in the air. LOL.]

Henry can't become popular. It will be ruined for me. Say it ain't so!
I know it is rising in popularity in the US, but so far, this is the first one I've heard of in my area, and that hospital is about 35 minutes away anyway, so when I say "my area," I mean it in a broad way. Who knows, though? By the time I have kids, I don't know where I'll be living or what will be popular by then. I only hope not my favorites!

Don't despair. I've just been seeing it a lot on these boards lately and in my area some. I've only seen one at the hospital in the last 2 years, though, so that's a good sign. :b And it doesn't seem to be shooting up the charts at the moment, just steadily rising. Something to be aware of, I guess.
