Shannon on a boy?
I've gotten some very mixxed reactions on this board when it comes to names like this so I'm interested to see what people think of this one. I've never liked Shannon on a girl but today I heard it on a boy for the first time and I loved it. WDYT?. Opinions? teases? combos?. I'm working on a new top ten list and if you guys like it I think I'll put it in.Also, thanks for the help with my boys list. I got it chopped down (a little).

Where I live names like Shannon Ashley Morgan Mackenzie and so on are still regarded as unisex I know both boys and girls with these names although I must admit I prefer them on boys.

I love the name Shannon for a boy, and I think it would be a great name to use as such.

Great!Honestly Shannon on a girl is very 80's to me, but on a boy it is fresh.

I only know one Shannon and that's a girl. Shannon doesn't seem very masculine to me.

DittoI have such a hard time viewing it on a boy.
It's a great name though, I do like it, but on a girl.

I've seen it on both. I think its more girly, but I don't mind it on a boy.

I have a male relative named Shannon. And strangely enough, while perusing BAs I came across a pair of Shannons of opposite sex who are married and have had a child. The mom was Shannon and the dad was Shanon (one n instead of two!). I can't imagine being married to someone with the same name as me. Anyway, I like Shannon on a boy.

I've known one 1 boy named Shannon, and 1 girl named Shannon. I'm not a fan of either, but I perfer it as a boy. I think Shannon on another person's son is really nice.

I know a boy Shannon and hes never been teased.

I really don't like it. At all. Once a name goes to the female side, there is no going back. A little boy named Shannon will be forever teased and tormented.

What a load of rubbish.I know male and female Jordans, Tylers, Morgans, Ashleys.Shannon is a perfectly acceptable boys name.
I have a male cousin named Shannon. He hasnt ever been teased.

I've actually met three guys named Shannon. I don't mind the name for girls, but I prefer it for boys. It's not something I would use, but if I did I would use something classic.

I *love* it!I'd love to see your combos when you get them together. And I would especially love to see Shannon on it, as a boys name. *hearts* :)

As a female Shannon it's a bit difficult for me to judge this name objectively because I love my name on me, but I would never use it in naming ANYTHING else. That being said, I think that Shannon is lovely on a boy or a girl, and I like it more and more as a boy's name as I get older. It definitely is an androgynous name, whose look or sound is pretty neutral and not typically categorized as either "masculine" or "feminine" sounding. I think Shannon makes a beautiful middle name, too, actually. There are some pretty cool combinations with Shannon as a middle name, it's pretty unusual to see the name used in that position.
