What do you think of the name Ivy? Is it too popular? It's in the 200s in the US. I like the name Ivy Catherine. Thanks!

According to the statistics, it isn't too popular. On the boards though, it runs rampant, especially about a year ago when it was on virtually all the polls.

Nope, not too popular, it's not boring me yet and I still like it. It's no. 322 in the UK, and so far I've not come across a little Ivy.

What puts me off Ivy is that it's such an annoying plant. That, and the way it starts with "I", like some people's every sentence.

I love Ivy.
It’s gone up and down in how much I love it, but it’s currently in my top ten.
It’s classy and timeless.
I’ve always liked that it’s cute for a child and matures nicely with them as well.
And I can picture Ivy as a lawyer or a zoo keeper or a hair stylist or a floral designer. Debutant or softball pitcher. Ivy’s a delicate baby, a cute toddler, playful child, bright teen, sophisticated adult, and even matures into sweet grandmother. It kind of works for girls all around.Ivy Catherine is lovely.

It is goodI really like Ivy but I too fret that it is becoming "too popular". Sometimes I think I am starting to get a little over-concerned about the popularity of names - like if I hear one person talk about it, I am glad - hooray, a name kindred spirit. If I hear a second person use it, I get suspicious. If I see a third person saying they like it, forget it, gloves are off.In all seriousness, I think Ivy is still a nice unique name. I think it may rise a bit, but I honestly can't see it getting massively, top-ten popular. Maybe in the UK, but not North America. It just doesn't have that USA vibe to it, it's too quaint. Ivy Catherine is darling.

I've always had a love/hate relationship with Ivy. I love most plant names and I like the sound of it. However, I don't like the "poison ivy" thing and then from that show "Passions" there was a nasty woman called Ivy in that. So the nasty Ivy theme runs strongly for me... but I do still like it.Ivy Catherine is a great combo, though. I like it and would be delighted to see it. Ivy is not so popular here in Australia.

I like Ivy. I've never heard it used on a child, so no I don't think it is too popular.

I do like the name Ivy because it is Glenn Withrow's daughter's name.

I like the name a lot and we even had it on our list, for if this baby is a girl. We've decided not to use it this time around, but I do still love it. It's not popular here in Australia, but I can certainly see it gaining in popularity over the next few years, unfortunately.

Ivy if pretty. In the 200s they'll be quite far between, but it just depends on your personal preference.

Despite the fact that I have an ongoing battle with the vine in my yard, I love the name Ivy.To begin with, I have a special thing for feminine "i" names, and short names with more vowel sounds than consonants. So Ivy has two legs up going in.Add to all of this the vibrant energy of the name. Names with a "v" sound in them are very popular at the moment. So are names from nature. Ivy fits the bill in so many ways.Ivy Catherine is a terrific combination. Catherine is a little safe as a mn. But sometimes oldies are goodies after all. Are you interested in a few other mn ideas?ETA:Oh, heck. I have no patience. Here are some combos for your perusal:Ivy Theodosia
