Amalia
I had a dream last night where I had a baby and named her Amalia. I woke up thinking about how random it was considering I've never given this name a second thought but it has been on my mind all day. It is a little frillier than my usual style but I think I really like it.WDYT of Amalia? Do you think it would always get mistaken for Amelia? I really hate the name Amelia.Combo suggestions?

I went to highschool with a girl named Amalia, and she never had trouble with people mispronouncing her name as Amelia. She pronounced her name as am-AH-LEE-ah, so it didn’t really sound like Amelia anyways.

I absolutely hate Amelia but love Amalia. I used to worry about it being mistaken for Amelia too, but I have a little girl in one of my classes named Amalia and have never heard one of the other kids mispronounce her name or have felt the urge to say Amelia. I think said out loud they sound a lot more different than one would think. She's sometimes called Mali, but I think that's adorable too. Anyway, yeah, I just really like this name. Combos later.

I've never cared for Amalia. I really hear the word "maul" in it, and it reminds me of Somalia. I think people would grasp that Amalia is not Amelia eventually, but, yes, I do think it would be mistaken for Amelia more often than you would like, especially considering Amelia's growing popularity. If you hate Amelia that much, Amalia would probably be a risky choice.

I like Amalia but hate Amelia, too. There will always be the risk of people mistaking it for Amelia but once people realise that it is Amalia then I doubt they would make the mistake again.Amalia Genevieve

I like it more than Amelia but I wouldn't use it if you can't stand Amelia, it's too close and people confusing the two would just get annoying.

I never liked it, because it sounds like "I'll maul ya."

It's ok. Might get confused w/ Amelia since it's so close, but a bit different... and doesn't have the Amelia Bidelia association. Does make me think of animals, but not horrible.
