Opinions on these names?
I haven't asked for any feedback on my favourite names for probably a couple of years at least, so thought it would be a good time to do it. These are all names I'd consider using on a real child, so any thoughts you have on them would be welcome. I'm in Britain btw. Thank you!DavinaIndiaLouisaTamsynFernBryonyFreyaRosa or RosannaSienna (admittedly this is a GP and I probably wouldn't ever use it in real life)

Davina -- I love Davina! I've never known anyone with this name and I'd sure thrill to meet one. It's classic and feminine without being totally weird.India -- I prefer Indira, however, I like India very much.Louisa -- I also love Louisa. This is one of my top female names.Tamsyn -- This doesn't stand up to the other three, but I can understand the appeal.Fern -- OTOH, I can't understand the appeal of Fern at all. It comes across and frumpy and unsophisticated.Bryony -- I like this well enough (along with Briony). Would you use the long i sound here? I prefer BREE-oh-nee.Freya -- Sorry, this is one of my least fave names. I don't enjoy the Fr blend and it reminds me of the words 'fray' and ''fraidy' (as in 'fraidy cat).Rosa or Rosanna -- While I love Rose, something about Rosa has never gelled with me. OTOH, Rosanna is lilting and delightful.Sienna -- I like the sound of this. It just doesn't have as much substance as the other names. Having just said that, I'd love to see it in a sibset with Sierra! I just love looking at Sienna and Sierra together. Yes, they're too close, but visually, they're very satisfying to me, LOL.

I've only ever heard Bryony and Briony with a long I sound, not an E (as in Brian) so I'd use that.I can see why people like Sierra but the Ford Sierra was a type of car here in the 80s, so I think most people would think of that unfortunately!Thank you for your feedback!

Davina: I once worked with a Davina, and she was one of the dumbest people I'd ever met. Slow, too. I don't like it.India: Wilkes. That's who I always think of, but I love it, anyway. I think it's pretty, and it's one of the few place names I really like.Louisa: May Alcott. Good name, pretty in a geeky way.Tamsyn: I prefer Tamsin. I think it's kind of eerie and quirky.Fern: Reminds me of "Charlotte's Web". I think it's okay.Bryony: I give it a C-. It's all right, but not anything special.Freya: Kind of cool, but also kind of pretentious. There was a Freya on "Jeopardy" once, and she gave off a holier-than-thou vibe.Rosa/Rosanna: Rosanna, Rosanna...I *love* that name, and I love that song. Rose isn't as good.Sienna: Kind of trendy where I live. Blah.

Yeah, Sienna's trendy here too which puts me off using it in real life, even though I like the sound. One of these days I will get round to watching Gone With The Wind to know more about the characters. I first liked the name Fern from Charlotte's Web and I've liked it ever since. Thanks.

Davina - McCall. Although this association wouldn't nearly be as strong when you go outside of the UK. Other than that, the actual name sounds ok.
India - although I don't really like places as names, this one is actually really pretty.
Louisa - very nice, I like it.
Tamsyn - I prefer Tamsin. The name itself isn't bad though.
Fern - don't like it.
Bryony - i want to like it but I don't, because I can't get over the 'Bryan' sound. Plus, I used to know a girl with this name who wasnt very nice.
Freya - it is pretty, but it doesn't exactly sound new to me in Britain (I've only known 2 though)
Rosa/Rosanna - I like both names. If Rosa is a nn for Rosanna, well, normally I don't like using established names as nns but this one isn't so bad.
Sienna - Sienna > Sierra. But I don't really like either.

Davina McCall bothers me too. And I realise Tamsyn is less popular than Tamsin. I just prefer the Tamsyn spelling as I think it looks prettier and reminds me of a character from one of my favourite childhood books. The Bryan part of Bryony used to bother me too but doesn't any more. I think I'm gradually going off Freya so not sure I'd ever use it for real. Thanks for your feedback.Btw, I hadn't realised you were in Britain. I just assumed you were American.

My favorite out of these is Bryony and I'd love to see it on a baby. I also like Tamsyn (prefer Tamsin) and Rosanna, nn Rosa.
The others are not my style, but apart from Fern I wouldn't mind seeing them used.

Someone I know recently had a baby Bryony. I've always liked it but can really see the appeal now I've seen it on a real baby. I realised that most people would prefer Tamsin to Tamsyn and Tamsin is more well known than Tamsyn. Oh well, something to consider if it ever comes to being a real choice to make. Thank you!

To be honest, none of them appeal to me. They're just not my style and I don't want to be rude about them. I suppose I dislike Rosa or Sienna the least.

I like Bryony and Freya best. I like Fern too but for some reason I can't imagine it on a real person. Louisa or Luisa is on my own list as a mn (for honouring purposes) but it feels a bit boring to use as a fn. And Tamsyn has always struck me as trendy-sounding. Davina always reminds me of the Big Brother presenter but presumably that's an association that will go away, eventually. India is cool but it reminds me too much of the country, and I've always disliked Rose and Rosa, Rosanna's nicer.

I know most people associate Davina with Davina McCall as it's rarely used otherwise. I worry that people would think I was a big fan of hers if I used it, which I'm not! Interesting that a couple of people see Tamsyn as trendy. I hadn't really thought of it like that but I can see why with the Y in it.I can't decide if I prefer Rosa or Rosanna. I always used to prefer Rosanna but lately been veering towards Rosa. Thank you!

Davina - not fond of the sound of this at all, sorry but I find that it sounds too pop-star and hollywood.India - I much prefer Indiana, and I am not a fan of countries as names, I think the nickname Indie is cute though.Louisa - slightly dated maybe but I often find myself liking this as a middle name.Tamsyn - way too trendy and this spelling does nothing for me: I prefer Tamzin but even that is pushing it.Fern - it sounds dated in my opinionBryony - dislike the way this looks, also the sound grates on my nerves. Much prefer Ebony.Freya - stands out a bit from the last couple of names, it's a shy name and although I didn't like it for many years I can now appreciate it.Rosa / Rosanna - love Rosanna but would rather have the nickname Rose than Rosa, dislike the sound of Rosa, but as an occasional nickname it could be okay.Sienna - miles better than some of the other names you've mentioned, I don't understand why this is a GP name, I see no problem with using this is real life.

Thanks. I hadn't considered Tamsyn as being trendy. I got the spelling from a favourite children's book about a girl in Tudor times but I suppose with the Y it does look trendy. I don't know if I would use Rosa as a nickname for Rosanna, I just can't decide at the moment which one I prefer, maybe I should have listed them separately. Sienna is a GP because I think it sounds really trendy and too celebrity influenced which isn't really my style. People in real life have commented on how awful and chavvy it is as a name so I'd be reluctant to actually use it!

Davina- it sounds nice, but reminds me too much of Davina McCall and 'Big Brother'India- I think it's better as a name for a country than for a personLouisa- I love it, it's one of my favourite girls names :)Tamsyn- nice, I prefer the Tamsin spelling though.Fern- it's a little boring, not a bad name thoughBryony- reminds me too much of the name Brian which is a bit dated and old-mannishFreya- I used to like it but it's unfortunately becoming a bit 'chavvy' and downmarket now.Rosa or Rosanna- I really like both, especially Rosa which I associate with Rosa Parks.Sienna- reminds me too much of Sienna Miller.

Thank you. I know Davina McCall is an issue, I'm not really a big fan of hers and I wish she wasn't on TV so much!I had a feeling Tamsin would be preferred over Tamsyn by most people. I don't know any young Freyas so hadn't realised it was becoming more downmarket but I guess that's inevitable once a name starts becoming more popular. Sienna is a GP partly because I do mostly associate it with Sienna Miller.
