Re: Alexandra / Alexa / Alexis / Alexia
Alexandra. It's a standard classic feminine name, to me, especially because the common use of Sandra predates my lifetime. To me it's like Stephanie or Katherine or Margaret or Joanna. It's not bratty or frilly. I don't get why people think it is. Alexa is nice, more modern seeming IMO. I think of it as Alyssa for people who are too hip for Alyssa... I like both of those names but not as much as Alexandra, because Alexandra sounds more powerful.Alexis is a soap opera / YA novel character type name IMO, on either sex. Makes me think of Lexisnexis and Lexus. Sorta gimmicky or brandnamey. It's more heroic on a guy but on a girl it just seems trendy-unisex, like a sister for Riley (f) and Luka (m). It's not BAD but it's nms.Alexia means inability to read (and it's also a brand name of frozen potatoes, although that matters less), so I'm turned off. It's ruined like Melina and Sephora are.
