Jesse?
What do you think of Jesse on a male? I know that there are some girls named Jessie, does that make it unusable?

I think Jesse is totally usable on a boy. I really like it- it has a very friendly, boy-next-door type of feeling to me.

When I was a kid I always thought Jesse was a very feminine name because it sounded like Jessie. Now I think it's okay on a guy. It's not particularly masculine, but not too feminine either.

It's never been my favorite name, especially for a man. Sounds a little too feminine with all the s's and the cutsy "ie" ending (even though it's just spelled with an e).

I love Jesse, I know that its a bit close to Jess but I still like it and I know a guy who wears it so well. I still think it's usable.

I really like Jesse on a male. I don't think Jessie on females makes Jesse unusable. Also, Jessie on a girl is super boring, whereas Jesse on a boy is handsome and awesome!

I think Jesse is fine on a male. While reading the other comments, I even found some famous Jesse's. Jesse James (actually, there's more than one person named this. THE Jesse James, Sandra Bullock's ex, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesse_James_(disambiguation)
Jesse Owens
Rev. Jesse Jackson
Jesse Eisenberg
Jesse Metcalf
Sen. Jesse Helms
Uncle Jesse from Full House, and another on The Dukes of Hazard

I like it, but I never really hear it used here (UK).

I like it, it's pleasant, handsome name.

Given it's still ranked mid-100s, no it isn't unusable, very usable in fact.

I like it, and I don't think that Jessie as a nickname for Jessica renders Jesse unusable for a boy. Often I do think that frequent use of a name for girls does render it unusable for a boy, but I don't think so about Jesse, and I don't really have a logical reason for that.

I think Jesse is perfectly usable on a boy. I've always quite liked it. It has a rugged edge, but isn't all cowboy.

Jesse is not my favourite name, it's not really my style, but it is a good solid name. I don't think Jesse is diminished by Jessie/Jessica I know several boys named Jesse born during and after the Jessica surge.

It's unusable for me because my name is Jessie =P But, having said that, I do like it on a boy. Some days I like it more than others. I think it's totally usable on a boy, I know tonnes of boys with this name =)

I don't think having Jessie on girls makes Jesse unusable. I knew a boy named Jesus and he didn't like his name, so he went by Jesse. It worked well on him. He was quiet but nice, and the nn suited him better than his given name imo. Jesse itself gives off a very laidback vibe to me, and I think it's a good name, all in all.

It's my brother's name. So, I can easily see it on a male. In fact, it's more male than female to me.I think it's a spunky sort of name, and I wish I heard it more often.

I don't think that many girls go by Jessie. All the girls named Jessica that I've known have either gone by Jessica, or casually gone by Jess. I only know one female Jessie, and that's her full name.Jesse is quite a handsome name for a boy, though not my style, imo. Looking at popularity data, it has never left the top 200, and 2013 is the first year it had left the top 150. Especially spelled Jesse, I doubt anyone would immediately assume he was a girl.

I don't think the fact that there are girl Jessies makes it unusable. I really don't care for it though. It gives me a real redneck vibe.

I really like it. Sure it sounds the same as Jessie-on-a-girl but it gives off a totally different vibe to me. I don't think it's unusable, but I would take into account the popularity of Jessie / Jessica. I don't think it matters so much now that Jessica is sorta dated now.

My name is actually Jessica "Jessi", but even so, I adore Jesse on a boy (not like I could ever use it, though). Jesse is a rugged, handsome, masculine name; Jessie is entirely unrelated. Sweet, pretty, and feminine without being frilly. Though they sound the same, they both give me completely different mindsets, as they are separate names. Jesse is very nice, and I wouldn't worry a bit about the similarity to Jessie.

I like Jesse! It's unpretentious and unadorned without being soulless. I definitely don't think the potential for confusion with Jessie renders the name unusable.

I LOVE Jesse for a boy. Jessie for a girl is nice too, but I see them differently and so using the different spellings for each gender makes them independent names in my mind.

Jesse is quite handsome on a male, and so familiar that the fact that some girls are named Jessie, or just nicknamed it, doesn't make much difference. Same as Erin and Aaron; the fact that they sound exactly alike but are used on different sexes hasn't hurt either name's popularity.

Erin and Aaron are totally distinct in my accent - you'd never confuse the two, but yeah, I agree, with an American (in general) accent, I can't tell.

They are totally distinct in my accent, also.

They're the same to me, but somehow Erin is prettier. Probably because it's the vag version.

.............. Vag version? Oh my.

Yeah, I'd had a drink last night when I wrote that.
