Anton: I like Anton but not with James.
Charles: I don't really care for this name but prefer it over Charlie.
Lyle: never really thought about this name but I like the sound of it.
Lavern: I love this name. It's my uncle's middle name and I gather that no one in my family likes it.
Carlisle: Don't like it.
Harrison: Reminds me of Harrison Ford.
Tate: Reminds me of Larry Tate from Bewitched so it's a bit of a surname to me.
Elwyn: I like it.

Anton (possibly with mn James)- I really like this. I prefer Antony James with the nickname Anton, but Anton sounds really cool and I picture a very good guy.Charles- I like Charles, but every Charles I've met has gone by Charlie, which seems sort of bland to me.Lyle- This is definitely not my style, but it's a nice name and it sounds strong. This would probably work as a nickname for Carlisle, so you could have both names.Laverne or Lavern- I immediately think of a woman when I hear this name.Carlisle- I really like it, but some people may have a hard time with the pronunciation.Harrison- Harrison is just too surname-y for my liking, but with the nickname Harry it could be fine.Tate- I like it, though it's not my style. It has a nice sound and it's short and concise, if a little surname-y.Elwyn- This name sounds like it belongs to a very old man, and it doesn't have that great of a sound anyways, but it would be refreshing to meet someone young with this name.

Ooo, there are some gooders in there!
I really like Carlisle and Tate. Harrison and Anton are nice too.Lyle is okay, but how about Carlyle nn Lyle? Best of both worlds. :)Elwyn feels pretty feminine to me, even though I know it's not. But the "ell" and the
"win", I don't know...I'm not convinced.Lavern / Laverne somehow feels like the bearer would be black. Is that just me? Harrison is pretty handsome. Also Harris? Morrison?

I like Carlyle nn Lyle. I never even knew you could spell it Carlyle. I think I prefer the spelling Carlisle though.

Anton is kind of high impact in American English IMO, because of the way it is spoken, with more emphasis on the second syllable than what's typical. So it sounds very assertive, or sassy, or else nerdy to me (depending on my impression of the bearer I guess). It's nms but a good name anyway.Almost named my son Charles "Charlie." It didn't go with our surname, though. It's a cool name, safe, less bold and alpha-ish than Jack but in the same friendly-guy vein.Lyle doesn't seem masculine enough for my taste, and feels almost as greasy to me as Carlisle does. I don't think it's a bad name, but I don't really like it.Laverne I would expect to be female. Lavern reminds me of the style of la-prefixed names, like Lamar does. What I don't like about it is the stress on the second syllable. It seems kind of dorky too because I think Vern is dorky. Eh. It's usable, nms.Harrison is alright. Tate is alright. Too clippy for my taste, I guess. But if you don't mind surnamey names it's not bad.Elwyn is alright. Oddly refreshing. It's not what I would pick, but I think it'd be neat to see. Seems sort of unisex, I guess.

Anton (possibly with mn James)- This isn't my style, but I like it. Not fond of James with it though.
Charles - meh
Laverne or Lavern - don't like this at all
Carlisle - handsome
Harrison - I don't hear this often. I like it.
Tate - surnamey. Seems a little incomplete for a full name.
Elwyn - sounds feminine to me.:0)

Anton - it's alright
Charles - I like it, especially the nn Charlie
Lyle - I think it would be better as a middle name. As a first name it's kind of blah
Laverne or Lavern - awful
Carlisle - sounds kind of snobby
Harrison - I only see this as a surname, not a first name
Tate - not a fan
Elwyn - looks and sounds very feminine - like Elowen
