If you had to
choose one of the #1 names for girls in Italy in recent years, which one and why? Do you have a least favorite? 1999 and 2002: Martina
2000: Alessia
2001: Sara
2003 - 2009: Giulia
2010 - 2015: SofiaMartina, Alessia, Sara, Giulia or Sofia? The interesting thing is that Giulia was used much more often when it was at #1 than any of the other #1 names when they were at the top of the list. For example in 2004 when Giulia was used most often in recent years it was given to over 12000 baby girls (over 4.5 percent). Alessia (maximum 3.6 percent) and Martina (maximum 3.5 percent) were only given to 9000 girls maximum in the years they were at #1. Sara was used 8000 times when it was number 1 (3.2 percent) and Sofia almost 9000 times (3.6 percent). So Giulia was really incredibly common when it was at #1. The #1 name Emily in 2004 in the US (the year Giulia was at its most popular) was only given to 1.2 percent of newborn baby girls whereas Giulia was given to 4.5 percent.

Sofia but spelled Sophia because I think it's a pretty name

Sara or Sofia. I think I'd choose Sara, so I could go with the nicknames Sally or Sadie.

I would go with Giulia. I think Julia is beautiful, and it's not much of a leap to go from that to Giulia. Distant second for me would be Martina. I don't love it, but I like the nickname Marty. Sofia and Alessia aren't for me. I can't put my finger on it but something about Sara just annoys me. I can't' explain it, it's just one of those things.

For me it's Martina, because of ist wonderfully old-fashioned 60/70's flair.
(commonly used in Germany between 1960-1970, in 1970 on rank list place 14, 1977/29,
1987 100, 1996 230 and nowadays considered an also-ran) German ranking places in 2016: Sofia/3, Sara/32, Julia/35, Alessia/77, Giulia/207
(Emma/2, Emilia/5, Emily/16)

I like both Giulia and Sofia, but since I live in the US, Sofia would be much more usable. If I used Giulia I would probably spell it Julia, though I do like the Italian spelling. I don't really like the other names.

Alessia. I think it's very beautiful and isn't popular here at all.

I'd rank them like this (favorite to least favorite):
Sofia --Sophia is my favorite girls name ever and I love Sofia too.
Alessia (gorgeous name)
Giulia
Martina
Sara --Far and away my least favorite. I like Sarah a lot but hate Sara.

I would say Alessia because it sounds pretty.

Giulia. Even though I much prefer Julia, i still find it the prettiest of the lot.

Definitely Martina. It similar to Marina, which is a name I'm crushing on now.

Sara. It's just one of my top names that I actually would consider using. I would spell it as Sarah though.I dislike Giulia

I really love both Sara and Giulia (preferably Julia). I wish they weren't so common! I think I would have to choose Giulia. I have met many more Sara(h)'s where I live (US) than I have Giulia's/Julia's. Plus, Giulia is such a pretty name! Please vote on my PNL! (-:

I would pick Giulia, because Julia is my favorite name. Alessia is also very pretty but comes out a little awkward in my accent, probably because I'm more used to Alexa's and Alexis's. Sara's always a great choice too.
