I used to be very fond of the name Remedios, because I like the painter Remedios Varo and I like the meaning of Remedios, but I originally thought it was pronounced re-me-DEE-os. When I learned that it's really re-ME-dee-os, I didn't really like it any longer.

I don't see how its feminine at all. To me it looks too much like Remedial, which basically implies stupid.

I love Remedios! I first saw it on Remedios the Beauty, a character in Gabriel García Márquez's 100 Years of Solitude. That book is a goldmine of names: Aureliano, Renata, Arcadio, Pilar, Amaranta, Úrsula, Melchiades, Petra, Fernanda, Sofía.
