Francine - Not my style, but very refreshing to see. I'm glad the parents picked something unusual.
Bridget - Cute. It's not a name you hear all the time. Good to see that the parents looked beyond the top 10. I wonder if the parents are Catholic.
Alma - Interesting. I wonder if the parents are Hispanic. It's not something I hear every day.
Sunny - Are the parents hippies? The name will be cute until she's older. Then, it will be silly.
Hilda - What an old lady name! There is nothing appealing about this name.Tristan - Love it. I wonder if the parents enjoyed the story of Tristan et Yseult.
Walter - I love that they're bringing this name back! So underused and lovely to see!
Lake - Are his siblings named Puddle, Pond, Creek, and Inlet? Ridiculous.
Ari - Cool name. I wonder if the parents are Jewish.
Cormac - I kind of like it. I wonder if the parents are Irish.

Brutally honest (forgive me):Francine -- parents are devout Catholics and wanted a more "1940s retro" version of Frances.Bridget -- I wouldn't really think much, to be honest. Bridget is a good, normal name that will age well. Alma -- parents are devout Mormons and have named their daughter after their 93-year-old great aunt. Sunny -- open minded parents with an appreciation for nature. The kid is lucky to have this name. Hilda -- the baby is from Germany, or is of German descent. The name was chosen to honor an older relative. Tristan -- Millennial parents who wanted to be trendy without being overly so. They also don't care much about name meanings.Walter -- probably named after his great-grandfather, or has a number like IV or V after his name. Lake -- hippy, nature loving parents who gave him a nice creative, gender-neutral name. Probably Sunny's brother. Ari -- Jewish parents who drew on their heritage to name their child. Kid has a good name. Cormac -- Scottish parents (as in actually born and raised in Scotland), wanted to honor their ethnic heritage with their child's name.

Claudia - What a beautiful name! Very refreshing to see.
Maureen - Dated. So, so, so, so dated. Poor kid.
Billie - Ugh, nicknames as first names sound so childish.
Cosima - Ooh, how quirky! I love it. The parents have great style.
Philomena - How beautiful! I love the meaning of it. I wonder if the parents know what it means.Duncan - I adore this name! Are the parents Scottish or Shakespeare fans?
Rufus - Reminds me of the singer Rufus Wainwright and Rohypnol.
Percival - Is he going to be a knight at Medieval Times? Even so, Percy is a cute nn.
Collin - Is the family Scottish? Why did they add the second l?
Lucian - It's ok. Loosh is a cute nn.
Axel - Like a car axle? I do not understand the appeal of this name.

Claudia -- wealthy, educated parents who wanted her to have an elegant, sophisticated name. They succeeded, but didn't bother to check the name's meaning.Maureen -- named after her grandmother.Billie -- is it short for anything? Wilhelmina? Willa? Billie on its own seems incomplete. Cosima -- Brooklyn hipster parents with an impeccable taste in names.Philomena -- very devout Greek Orthodox parents, likely born in Greece itself. I'd assume they named her this for religious reasons.Duncan -- named by suburban American parents with vague Irish roots. Cute name. Rufus -- Brooklyn hipster parents who put a lot of thought into this. Cosima's brother. Percival -- Hipster parents who tried too hard. The baby has a cool name, but will unfortunately be bullied for it. Let's hope little Percy is resilient. Collin -- Doesn't really bring anything to mind. This is a good thing in a name. I would wonder if the parents were honoring a family surname because of the unusual spelling.Lucian -- Named by open minded, progressive parents with fluid views on gender. Well named.Axel -- Swedish parents, or American suburban parents trying so hard to be Swedish.

Love Claudia. Very pretty. I've known a few Claudia's my age (I'm 18) so I wouldn't find it too strange on a baby.Maureen is a GP of mine. That said, I admit it does sound too dated still. I'd be very surprised to meet a baby with this name.Billie is another GP. Cute but can't imagine it on a child over 10. I knew a Billie when I was about 5, and her sister Rickie.Hate Cosima on anyone of any age.My cousin named a woman named Philomena. She's gorgeous but I don't like her name. Too much of a mouthful and not fond of the nn Mena. Wouldn't mind it on a baby, but wouldn't like it either.Love Duncan. Think it's very handsome. Would love to see on a baby.Hate Rufus. I think it's extremely ugly and can only think of Rufus the naked mole rat from Kim Possible. Also hate Percival. I'd feel bad if I met a baby named this.Love Collin, but it's very common. It's the name of one of my cousins. Wouldn't think anything at all of a baby named Collin.I like Lucian. It'd be nice to meet a baby Lucian.I had a neighbor named Axel around my name. Never liked it much. Wouldn't mind meeting a baby with the name, though.

Francine- I think this would actually be kind of cute on a baby and the nn Francie is so dang cute. This would be very unexpected to hear on a baby today.
Bridget- Also unexpected, but not in the same way as Francine. I know a lot of people don't like it, but I do. It's got a unique sound and is relatively uncommon.
Alma- Meh. ALL-ma is nice, but AL-muh is not so nice. It's be nice to see on a baby, but it doesn't really do much for me.
Sunny- I would sincerely hope this is a nickname, though I'm not sure what it could be for. I'll admit it's kind of cute, but it doesn't seem like an actual name to me. More for dogs.
Hilda- I can't even imagine this on a baby tbh.Tristan- Boring. I do like the sound, but it's too trendy. Nothing special.
Walter- I'd love to see this on a baby, I think it'd be pretty funny but in all honesty it's a very respectable choice. Very uncommon and unexpected for babies these days.
Lake- Pseudo-hippie granola parents. Probably has a sister named Wren or something like that. Not a fan.
Ari- I actually know two Aris, so it isn't anything new to me, but it's ok I guess. A bit insubstantial.
Cormac- This would be very surprising to hear on a baby (or anyone here in the US), but in a good way. I like it a lot. I'd definitely remember coming across a baby Cormac

Francine? Poor kid. Does she have a brother named Arthur?
Bridget? Not much beyond the fact that I don't particularly like the name. I might assume her family was Irish or wannabe Irish.
Alma? Grandma better be leaving her a fortune for naming after her.
Sunny? Well, I would first of not be sure if it was Sonny or Sunny. I'd assume Sonny was a nn, that he was probably a Junior and I'd think the parents were pretty damn lazy. If I knew it was Sunny I'd hope it was a nn for a cheerful, sunny kind of baby and that they'd mostly outgrow the name. Otherwise it sounds like a pet.
Hilda? Maybe she and Alma and Francine can join the bridge club. Poor Hilda; her name sounds witchy as well as old.Tristan? I like this name and I have met a couple babies named this.
Walter? Comically and rather self-consciously dorky.
Lake? Lake Surname will always just sound like a recreational area.
Ari? I'd assume he was Jewish. It's not bad.
Cormac? He might be Bridget's brother. The name reminds me of Cormac McCarthy (whose real name is Charles and he supposedly chose Cormac to avoid jokes about Charlie McCarthy the ventriloquist's dummy) who is famous for his bleak, often gross, fiction. Seems more wannabe Irish than Bridget, since Bridget has seen a fair amount of use across the board.

Francine - I'd wonder if it was Fran or Frahn, and I'd think how much nicer Frances would have been.
Bridget - I'd be happy for her.
Alma - I'd hope she'd have more personality than her name.
Sunny - I'd assume it was a nn.
Hilda - I'd wish for her sake it had been Hilary (with one L)Tristan - I'd find it pleasant enough but unremarkable.
Walter - I'd be happy to see a young one, and I'd hope like mad it never shortened to Wally.
Lake - I'd be sorry for him, having to tell people every day of his life that, no, it wasn't Luke.
Ari - I'd wonder if he was Greek or if I'd misheard Harry.
Cormac - I'd think it looked better than it sounded.

Francine I'd feel neutral. It's not my style bit it is a fine name. Same with Bridget. Though I know one Bridget that goes by Bridey and I think that's precious. I like Alma a lot, I know a girl about 10 with this name so I wouldn't find it strange on a baby. Sunny I'd probably ask if it was a nickname for something, Sonya, Allison? Hilda is a name I'm obsessed with. Pretty sure I'm in the minority bit I'd be beyond thrilled to meet a little Hilda.Tristan is my sister's son and Walter is my cousin's son, so I like those names and they seem quite natural. I knew a little Ari who went to my daughter's day care, it's not my style but I thought it was a good name for someone else's kid. I love Cormac, would be delighted to meet one. Lake I don't like. I can't explain why Lake seems less like a name to me than River or Brooks, maybe because I haven't met one. I suppose it's one I may warm up to if confronted with it in real life.

Hi Olwen !!Francine: I assume that paremts love charming, old-fashionable names. I prefer Fanny though.Bridget: I assume that parents love names such Edith, Sibyl or Emily so classic English names. I can only think about 'Bridget Jones'Diary', the English word 'bridge' and finally the card game. So I don't like this form. I much prefer Birgitta, Brighid and Brigitta.Alma*: parents love romantic, literarian names. I love Alma since I was a child.Sunny: I would use it on a boy not on a girl. I assume that his/her parents are very tender and want for him/her a joyful word-name that everyone can stand.Hilda: parents love strong, short names with a Medieval vibe. I quite like it but I prefer other names.Tristan*: parents love clear, English names. I love it as well.Walter: classic name but I think it is too dated. I prefer Walt on its own because of Disney.Lake: Mormon parents? Because I immediately think on Salt Lake City.
My second thought is 'like' as in Facebook and Youtube so..despide being a nature-theme name it has strange ties in my mind. I dislike it.Ari*: parents are Scandinavian or Jewish in my mind and love their cultures. I love all the meanings of this name.Cormac* Irish parents? I love its particular sound and its tie with raven (I also like Bran or Bertram)....
As first name I surely would use Alma and Ari. Tristan and Cormac as MNs. Sunny meh..for a cat maybe.

Would LOVE to meet a baby Alma or Sunny. So adorable!A baby Bridget would also be nice. Not a huge fan of Francine, I like Frances better but even then I feel like it takes a certain kind of person to pull it off and I hate the nn Frankie.Hate Hilda.Tristan wouldn't be weird to see at all. It's number 108 on the US popularity chart so it's a pretty common name. Though I do love it, so I'd be happy.Walter's another name that wouldn't be too weird to see. I do like it a lot though!Cormac thought not on the top 1000 still wouldn't be weird to me. It sounds very trendy and current and I don't like it.Dislike Ari.Hate Lake.
