Sighting: Miranda for a boy
Replies
I suppose it's just another lnfn, but since where I live, 'randy' has a very specific meaning, I'd avoid Miranda as a fn at all costs and for anyone, male or female.
Which is a pity, because it's a beautiful name with strong Shakespearean roots. I'd use it for a girl as a mn. So far it isn't particularly fashionable here to use random lns as fns - when it happens, it's for family reasons - so that's what I'd assume if I saw it on a local boy.

Thus the reason I said, "A lot of surnames" instead of "all" or even "most."
I love it for a girl, but I can't see it on a boy. It's very feminine to me.
I like it, actually. Seconding the Lin-Manuel Miranda association.
