A 14-son sibset in the news with an, uh, interesting MN
Just a little fluff to start the day:
Finley Sheboygan ("she's a boy again") joins brothers Tyler, Zach, Drew, Brandon, Tommy, Vinny, Calvin, Gabe, Wesley, Charlie, Luke, Tucker, and Francisco. Couldn't find their middle names for a comparison, alas..

14 sons and no daughters? Wow, what are the odds of that?
I looked up Sheboygan and it's a town in Wisconsin.

Francisco makes me think of Franco... and they all have a slight trashy vibe. Especially Tucker, ew.
I hate it when people use puns for their kids’ names.
I saw this. Francisco sticks out like a sore thumb.
And I really don't care for the dumb pun as the last boy's middle name. I mean, according to the article I read, the father's father/grandfather told a joke about an Indian chief who used Sheboygan on his latest son for that very reason, because it was "she a boy again."
As ethnic jokes go, it's fairly harmless, but it's dumb and obnoxious. It's in the same class, roughly, as the silly joke about the little bird who found an orange and said "Look at the orange Marmalade." (Mama laid.)

14 boys, that's insane! I guess once you have that many kids you start running out of favorite names, but this sibset is too mismatched for me... it's like they went super 90s in the beginning, then classic/vintage from Tommy to Charlie, then more modern/popular, then international? Francisco really sticks out and I feel like Finley only fits with Tucker. But I'm also super weird and picky about these things.
They literally started having babies in the 90s so it makes sense that the names at the beginning are more 90s?
I know, I just thought it was interesting to see the styles of their kids' names through time.
My son's name is Finley, so I obviously like it. :) The couple is from Michigan and Sheboygan is a town there, so I think it's just an unfortunate pun, whether it's intended or not.
I also like Charlie. Not too keen on the rest, though none are bad.

It was an intentional pun, didn't realize it wasn't mentioned in the People article - sorry!: https://www.sheboyganpress.com/story/news/2018/04/20/michigan-couple-goes-viral-14th-sons-name-sheboygan/536636002/
Oops, Sheboygan is in Wisconsin, not Michigan.
Michigan does have a Cheboygan though
I didn't know they were spelled differently before today either.

Aw, I was just about to post this.
Sheboygan's funny. Middle names are not that big a deal, and Sheboygan's a place. Whatever. Apparently it's from a story one of the grandfathers used to tell before he passed away. So it's meaningful to them too.
Apparently the odds of having 14 boys in a row is 1 in 16,384.
I don't love any of their names, but like Finley, Wesley, and Luke. None of them are terrible assuming the nicknamey ones are nicknames.
Apparently the mom has a sister with 10 sons who lives near me.
