Of all the names in all the world... and they pick Lyla. I mean, it's fine. It's nice enough. It just doesn't have any, I don't know, zing. And the spelling bugs me. I think Lila is nicer, though still about as interesting to me as paste. Is almost prefer something as commonplace as Sophia instead, because at least Sophia packs a punch.
It would have been really cool if they'd named her Maria.

I like Maria too. I like Lila but Lyla looks trendy. At least the pronunciation is clear.
Also, with all the different spellings Lyla is actually very common :/ Lyla, Lila, Leila, Laila, Layla (and I never know which ones are LY-la, which ones are LAY-la or LEE-la). I actually love Lila and Leila but because there are so many pronunciation issues and so many similar names I wouldn't use them.
