Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger had a daughter
Her birth was announced on both of her parents' Instagram a few hours ago. They named her:Lyla Maria Schwarzenegger PrattShe has a half-brother named Jack Pratt (b. 2012), from Chris' previous marriage to actress Anna Faris.WDYT? The middle name honours her maternal grandmother Maria Shriver, who is a niece of the late US president John F. Kennedy.

I dislike Lyla, the spelling looks tacky and childish. I like Maria, though.

Something about Lyla always looks off to me. I can't put my finger on it but I just don't care for it. Lila looks nicer, or Lilah.Maria is nice.

LEELA Vs LIE-laIt's interesting that people are saying they prefer the spelling Lila. To me, they are different names!Lila is LEEla and Lyla is LIE-la in my experience.

Agree. Lila is LEE-la, Lilah and Lyla are LIE-la. I'm sure there are enough people out there named Lila LIE-la for it to be a "legit name", but it really doesn't look like LIE-lah to me. It's more intuitive to pronounce Lila as, well, Li-la. I guess I associate Lila / Lilah with Maria / Mariah, so that's why I automatically say it differently with and without the h? Lyla is more obvious but I think it looks more trendy.

NopeLila's pretty intuitively "LY-la" to me. The only name I'd pronounce "LEE-la" is Lela.

I would always say LIE-la for Lila unless told otherwise by the person who has the name. I associate it with Lilah / Lilach / Lilac.

The pronunciation of Lyla seems pretty obvious to me. Like Kyla or Kylie or Rylee or Skylynn.
Maybe it's different for people who don't speak English, but that doesn't seem to be the issue here.

That’s odd.
I know an older lady, in her 70’s, named Lila, and it’s pronounced Lie-luh.
I have a friend with a little girl Layla, prn Lay-luh.Never met anyone named Lyla or Lila pronounced Lee-la.

I think there was a grandmother or something on my stepfather's side who was Lela, pronounced LEE-la.I once met a very old lady whose name was Leila, pronounced Lee-EYE-la.

Lila & Lyla are both pronounced LIE-la
Leela and Leila are pronounced Lee-la although occasionally Leila is pronounced Lay-la.

In Germany Leila and Laila are always pronounced as LY-la. Leyla and Layla are usually LAY-la, but Layla can be LY-la too.Lila is a Sanskrit name and that is definitely pronounced LEE-la. However it can also be short for Delilah and then it's LY-la. There's really no way to tell which is why I'd avoid them even though I do like Lila and Leila.

German tends to have "ei" sound like "eye," which is reflected in names like Leigeber, so their pronunciation of Leila doesn't surprise me. I thought Layla was pretty much universally pronounced like Lay-la, so an alternative Ly-la pronunciation surprises me.

My Indian friends who are named Lila say LEELA.My Arabic friends who are Leila or Layla are LAYLA.These people speak the original language as their mother tongue.

Leila and Lila are used in a lot of countries, and India contains multiple dialects and regional variations. I'm not saying your friends are wrong. How can they be? But that doesn't mean that they are the only ones who are right. I already stated that I have heard Leila pronounced two ways.

UnderwhelmingIt's certainly fine. Nothing whatsoever wrong with it. Just a little bland. But then I find Jack bland, too. I don't care one way or the other about the spelling. I prefer Maria over Lyla actually.

It's a cute name, not too bad as far as celebrity baby names go, although I prefer the spelling Lila. I'm generally not a fan of name combos that end with the same letter, so I think Lila Marie sounds better, but it's nice that it's honoring her grandmother.
As far as Jack Pratt, I like the name Jack, but with Pratt it reminds me of Jack Sprat.

Jack Pratt has a bad ring to it :( I don't like Jack much it seems like an ex-trendy 2000s name.Lyla Maria is fine but very basic. Lyla looks trendy. Lila Maria would have been much nicer.

I like it! Lyla is really growing on me lately.I have no idea who they are btw, but god name!

I'm not a Lyla fan at all, but at least the spelling makes their preferred pronunciation obvious. I do like Maria.Jack Pratt? Much too close to Jack Sprat!

Of all the names in all the world... and they pick Lyla. I mean, it's fine. It's nice enough. It just doesn't have any, I don't know, zing. And the spelling bugs me. I think Lila is nicer, though still about as interesting to me as paste. Is almost prefer something as commonplace as Sophia instead, because at least Sophia packs a punch. It would have been really cool if they'd named her Maria.

I like Maria too. I like Lila but Lyla looks trendy. At least the pronunciation is clear. Also, with all the different spellings Lyla is actually very common :/ Lyla, Lila, Leila, Laila, Layla (and I never know which ones are LY-la, which ones are LAY-la or LEE-la). I actually love Lila and Leila but because there are so many pronunciation issues and so many similar names I wouldn't use them.

Lyla Maria is cute, though I’m not really a fan of name combos ending in the same sound.

Love it.I think it's very pretty. A+.

I like it. Lyla is nice. I feel it's a little bit 'slick' somehow and that's why it's not a favorite, but I think it's nice on other people.
I like the combo. I think it's the best choice to use simple sleek names like Jack and Lyla, if your last name is Schwarzenegger Pratt.

Pretty. It's nice that they honored her grandmother and Lyla is so sweet. Though it's a little long compared to Jack if Jack doesn't have a middle name?

Blah. Underwhelming and not creative imo.
Lyla is so boring. I feel like every other kid is named Lyla (or Layla or Lila). Maria is fine since it honors, but it would have been cool if they went with a variant, like Máirín or Manon.

I like it. Lyla was a favorite in high school and while I don't love it, it still has that spunky vibe. Maria isn't a favorite, but it flows well and it's nice to honor her grandmother. For a celebrity bestowed name it's the tops.

I like Lilah. I would never use it, but like the sound. I don't like the spelling Lyla.

Meh, it’s okay.

Hate itI find it sickeningly airy -- it lacks a grounding force. Plus, Lyla looks hideous.

Lyla Maria is very pretty! Nice to see a pair of celebrities use sense when naming.
Although, Jack Pratt is AWFUL! Like Jack Spratt. Even without the nursery rhyme, it sounds gross. I'll attribute that to Anna Faris's influence.

Lyla Maria is pretty good. I guess I would have preferred Lilah Maria but Lyla is good too, and the shorter version might go better with Jack anyway. Schwarzenegger and Pratt both sound terrible to me. I don't think they had a good option available! Schwarzenegger is long and confusing, and Pratt sounds like a cross between "brat", "prattle", and a fart noise.

Cool, definitely not as bad as a lot of other names. I don’t mind Lyla, but prefer either Layla or Lila.
Maria is nice since it’s honoring, otherwise it’s like the most boring of all boring names.
Why in the world would you want to saddle a poor child with Schwarzenegger? I mean, sure, I get that maybe The mom wants her to have her same last name, but I just wouldn't. Lol... If it were me, she would be Lyla Maria Pratt. My maiden name was a German last name nearly the same length and just about it as hard to pronounce, but I gladly left it behind in favor of my husbands English, easy to spell and say last name. That’s just my opinion :)
