HELP: Annora or Leonora?!
Hi guys!
Hope you guys can help us out. Hubby and I are head to head with two names. I suggested Leonora, and just a couple of weeks ago Annora came into the scene and hubby loves Annora. We’ve already decided with the middle name Eve. This will be our 2nd as our first is named Estelle.
P.S. 7 weeks to go till Bub’s arrival.

Leonora! I prefer Annora in general, but I think Leonora is better with the middle name Eve. It also works better with Estelle because it's more showy. Lenora is another option but I like Leonora just as much.
Yep! We thought so too before Annora came into the picture. We may prefer the spelling Leonora but we tend to pronounce it more like ‘Lenora’ though. Love both just as much! Just wished we weren’t so torn!
Annora, because Annie could be a cute nn should you want to go down that path and Annora Eve sounds better to me than Leonora Eve.
That’s exactly what my husband is thinking also. He likes ‘Nora’ for short, and thought Annora Eve flowed much better than Leonora Eve. Our first is Estelle and her nickname is Essie. He liked ‘Essie & Nora’ for nickname combos as well. Yet we pronounce Leonora as ‘Len-Nora’ without the ‘O’. Nothing wrong with the ‘O’ add in pronounciation though. It’s just how we pronounce it.
Congratulations!
Both are lovely names and you can’t go wrong either way, but I personally prefer Leonora, and I think it goes better with the middle name Eve. It also sounds great with Estelle, and has the nicknames Leo and Nora built in. Like someone else said, you could wait until she is born and then decide. Good luck :)

Thank you darl! We were settled in with Leonora at first because of the nicknames ‘Leni’ and ‘Leo’ for short (well just as I thought we were until Annora showed up and my husband loved the flow together with Eve). Didn’t think this time round with names would be so hard! Argh! And yes! Waiting it out till she’s born is another way too to see what fits best with her.
Both are absolutely lovely. Normally I’d lean more toward Leonora, but in this case I think Annora flows better with Estelle and matches it’s crisp, sweet simplicity.
That’s a new way to look at it. I was so stuck on Bub’s name I didn’t really think of how it would flow with my daughter’s name either. Love both names and just wished I wasn’t so torn! Argh! Thanks for your help!
Oh shoot I'm torn, I like them both about the same :( in these situations where it's down to only two I would simply wait until she was born and you can get a "sense" if she is one or the other once you meet her. That's my 2 cents.
Great idea also! I’ll definitely keep that in mind if we don't settle on this sooner. But yes, it’s good to know someone knows how torn I am between the two names lol! Thanks for the help! ☺️
I love Leonora so I would go with this one.
But, as a Swede, the Royal family comes to mind. Princess Victoria's daughter is named Estelle. And her sister, Princess Madeleine, has a daughter named Leonore. Probably not an issue where you're living though.

Oh wow yes! I just realised that! It didn’t cross my mind about the Swede royals lol! We’re of Australian/New Zealander background. So maybe that’s why.
Yes, I do get where you’re coming from with the syllables too. We actually pronounced Leonora as ‘Len-Nora’ - yet ‘Leo-Nora’ is fine too but we just have the tendency to pronounce it like ‘Lenora’ (we’re from Aust/NZ). And since we pronounce Leonora the way that we do with Eve, to be now the same amount of syllables with Annora Eve as well. And so we’re now here lol!
Leonora goes better with Eve.
I thought so too! But Hubby think the same with Annora also! Hence why we’re now battling this out lol! **sighs**
I would go with Leonora. Very pretty and feels more complete than Annora.
If it's the number of syllables making him like Annora better there are the options of Lenora, Leonor or Leona, which are basically Leonora minus one syllable. Combining them would be another possibility, Leanora is lovely too.

We actually pronounced Leonora as ‘Lenora’ without the ‘O’ sound, and loved the idea as ‘Leo’ or ‘Leni’ for short. Now I got my hands tied. Very torn. Thanks for your help!
Annora Eve is so pretty! Unusual, but instantly recognisable; shorter and rhythmically superior to Leonora; wonderful meaning, which is subtle and surprising ... I would honestly look no further. Leonora is too long for daily use, but Annora isn't; plus, if yu need a nickname, there's Nora and Ann (or Annie) ready-made.
I think so too! And I think you hit a nail on the head with how my husband is sold on Annora. Just torn between the two. We pronounced Leonora as ‘Len-Nora’ with no ‘O’ sound. Not that we’re bothered with pronouncing it with the ‘O’ either. We really liked the idea of ‘Leni’ or ‘Leo’ as a nickname; and now that’s out the window with hubby when Annora came to town. I do like ‘Nora’ as a nickname as well.
I love them both, but I think Annora's got a slight edge.
Yes I love ‘em both but so stuck. That’s what my husband thinks with Annora and is soldier ..well actually he thought there could be a unique edge with Leonora (the whole classy vintage feminine vibe but could kill you with one punch if crossed)..his words! lol! He thought the same with our first Estelle as well. And she definitely came out as our hurricane haha!

Yes! My husband just said the same thing last week! About the two names together as a subset. Just wish I wasn’t so torn. Thank you for your help!
Annora, goes nicely with Estelle. Leanora I prefer to Leo Nora, or Elanora
I think so too! Just very torn between both. I did come across Eleanor or Elanora but it’s common within my cultural background and there’s like 3 Eleanor’s born in the last 2-3 years within circle of friends so that was like a no-go for us lol!
I prefer Leonora
Yes! Me too! I do love Annora as well; just wished it wasn’t so hard. Hubby and I have a dealbreaker that we both have to love the names. As we did with our first. Thank you for your help!
I love Leonora, its so feminine but it still means "lion". RAAAAAWR!
Yes! I love Leonora too! I’m just so so torn between the two as I do love both.
Hm. Well I like Leonora better, so obviously you should do that one...
Eh, they're both nice names! Leonora is a bit prettier, Annora is a little more dear. I can't help you!

I know right?! Exactly how I feel: Just so torn! I never thought I’d be stuck in the mud with this one…We settled for Eve but it felt plain and needed a little something then agreed for Eve to be a middle name. I think about 3-4 months into the pregnancy, I brought Leonora in and we both agreed. Until a few weeks ago when Annora came into the scene and hubby LOVED that one and so here we are.. ♀️
We pronounced Leonora with no ‘O’ sound (we’re from Australia). Not bothered if others pronounce it ‘Leo-Nora’ either. We liked the nickname ‘Leni’ or ‘Leo’ for short.
