Bridget? Doris?
What do you think of Bridget and Doris? Are they due a comeback?

Doris is definitely due a comeback. It sits well on all ages, and is both strong and graceful. Bridget has never really gone out of fashion, IMO. It's just kinda meh and not my style

Bridget is like Joan. Respectable, reminiscent of legendary warriors, but ultimately rather unattractive. Not due for a comeback, simply because it's unexciting - bridge it.Doris is vaguely reminiscent of seafoam and pleasant enough, if very Olde Worlde, with lovely mythical associations. Phyllis for the slightly less bold. Due for a comeback, sure.

Neither are my style. Doris is still very much a grandmother name, it sounds very friendly though and I prefer Doris over Theodora/Dora/Dorcas etc. I think Bridget has an unpleasant sound to it.

I used to really like the name Bridget. Now it’s just kind of ugly, but not ugly enough for it to go away. It’s fine.
Doris is way worse. Like, mean old lady type name.

I do kind of like the Italian version though: Brigida

I’ve always loathed Bridget for whatever reason, I just can’t stand the look or sound. There’s nothing appealing about it.Dor- names have been warming up to me, mostly surprisingly Dora and Dory, which I think are adorable but probably unusable due to being tainted by children’s entertainment (Dora, Finding Nemo…). Doris is okay, but not the prettiest. Dorcas is on my GP list. Isadora is nice.

I've never liked Doris. It sounds very severe and masculine in my opinion. I used to think the same of Bridget. I can see it as a feminine name now, and it's common enough that it doesn't weird, but it's not too common to get boring. It's not my style, but I understand it's appeal. It's not "dainty".

Bridget still feels youthful, I can see it being used. Doris needs a few more decades before its comeback.

I like Bridget very much; it would be good to see a Bridget on every street in town. Doris doesn't please me; all the Dor- names sound unattractive.
