What's the strangest name you've ever run to irl?
Just what the title is -- can be Tragedeigh or otherwise! Mine is almost certainly Jreaux (I believe this was a Kreatyve way of spelling Drew).

I don't know that I can narrow it down too much. My job has me seeing a lot of names, so top 5. Girls:
Jerazceleh (jera-CELL-ee) twin named Jazzcellinah (Jaz-Selena)
Eimi (Amy)
Aloha
Sparkle
TahpangaBoys:
Kashmir "Kash" (Cashmere)
Stosh
Bridge
Archange (R-shanj)
Nivek (yes, Kevin backwards)
"Strangeness" is subjective, but I usually say T9C.
I knew teens named Gohd, Blue Sky, and Infinite.Blue Sky and Infinite are verging on reasonable, but Gohd is too much.
I had a girl named Ecclesia in one of my classes.
It’s always interesting to see a unique Biblical name! My friend is an elementary teacher and has a little girl named Israel. I really like Ecclesia, honestly! Very classy, but maybe a bit impractical for real use
Shatawnia, unfortunately :(

I think the most unusual have to be Jzero and Kyzyl. Both on extremely boring teenage white boys with creative parents (not brothers). And I went on a date with a man named Semantics once.
Semantics is one of the oddest word names I've ever heard - and Jzero and Kyzyl are fascinating
Semantics was an odd one for me too. He was from Liberia. He said his father chose it because "he loves words".
Semantics is WILD. I think it wins, hands down.Is Jzero pronounced Jay-zero?
It was said like "juh-ZAIR-oh". It sounded like it should have an apostrophe in it: J'zero. Apparently it's from a Cat Stevens song.
YggdrasilFor those interested in Norse mythology, this is perhaps not a huge stretch. But seeing it and attempting to pronounce (as I am a novice at best in the world of Norse mythology) it was an endeavor.
I've also known some people who were explicitly named after celebrities, in a way that was jarring. I've encountered kids who were named after Richard Simmons (Simmons was the middle name, I believe) and Beyoncé and Madonna and Kanye. Admittedly not necessarily the strangest name objectively, but I still think it's kind of absurd to name your child with a name so singularly associated with a single celebrity. (The Kanye one in particular has aged poorly, considering the man's public meltdowns.)

I actually knew a Kanye in school growing up. At the time, I thought it was alright since I like the sound of the name on its own. It wasn't long after that he started his years-long crash-out. I can't help but wonder where that guy is now and if he's kept the name
There have been a few over the years but maybe Reignbow.
what a classic, never seen it in person though!
A part of me is so intrigued by the strangeness of Jreaux, but the poor child will always have to correct people.
For me it was Thailleh, supposedly pronounced as Tyler.
Jreaux actually looks straightforward compared to Thailleh 💀
Yeah, I thought Jreaux was horrible at first. After I read Thailleh, I looked back at Jreaux and all of a sudden was like, this name is much more attractive.
Thailleh pronounced like Tyler sounds like it was given by someone with a non-rhotic accent. Still horrible, of course.
I was thinking this too! It definitely makes it a little more sensible, but not by much...
I used to work in a bookstore and during that time I heard some wild ones that made me do a double take. I cannot say my number one, though, because it is so unique that it turns out her social profiles are the only google result when her name is typed in. So I'll spare her that.
But my second place was a 17 year old boy named Parfait.
I have two relatives in my family tree (uncle and nephew) from the Victorian era called Parfitt. I wonder if that was their attempt at Parfait.
I read this post earlier and actually laughed out loud at Parfait. It's been hours and I'm still laughing.I feel bad about it and really hope that person goes by another name.
Parfait? Oh dear. I hope he can go by his middle name.
I've run into a few like this online - I once tried to google a terrible name only for it to only come up with the accounts for this one child...... it scares me to say the least! Parfait is hilarious. What can you even say about that?
The only explanation I can think of is that I hope his family was just French, since Parfait means "perfect" in that language.
He must be in his mid-20's by now. Hope that boy had a thick skin.

Jeez, that reminds me why people like common names for the privacy protection.
