Out of curiosity, do you pronounce Tanya with 2 syllables or 3? For me, it's definitely 2 (tahn-YAH). The spelling Tania, on the other hand, is 3 - (tah-NEE-uh). And the first syllable is never the word "tan". I'm forever getting corrected, even by people who don't have the name, lol.

I think pronunciation can vary depending on the individual. I met a girl at college named Giovanna that pronounced it like 'Geo-vana" instead of the Italian way like jo-Van-ah. For what it's worth, I pronounce it Tahn-Yah, or for Tonya I enunciate the o a bit more in comparison.
