Thoughts on…
Hope, Iris and Flora. Do you like these names? Or not? And why?
EDIT: I’d especially like opinions on Iris.

I like Hope well enough but would not use it (I prefer Grace and maybe Faith).Iris is related to the meaning of hope and/or peace as it is related to rainbow (Latin, Greek, Iris was the goddess of the rainbow and thus the flower is multi-hued, or part of the eye. The connection with the rainbow gives a cultural connotation of hope (Noah, his ark, Gpd's promise, even if you do not believe the stories culturally the connection is there).I love the name Iris (not sure I would have used it as I have other dominant motivators when naming).
Flora I like well enough, again, but would not use. For me it connects to Flora MacDonald, she of the Skye Boat Song and the escpe of Bonnie Prince Charlie.
I'm not a fan of Hope, but I love Iris and Flora!
All 3 are gorgeous. I think Flora is my favourite, Floris (b)/Florisse (g) were on my baby name shortlist.
I like Hope!
Hope - I like it in theory, though I go back and forth on the appropriateness of virtue names.Iris - Not a big fan; objectively fine, but just a bit... meh?Flora - Probably my least favorite of the three; again, fine, but just a little blah.
Hope - feels dull in comparison to other virtue names (say, Grace, Felicity or Verity), but it's still agreeable. I'm surprised it hasn't been more popular, because it suits any age. I especially like it as a middle name.Iris - this has been a favourite since when I was a child. Not only the combination of letters and sounds is pleasing, but its associations too - the flower, the Greek goddess and the Goo Goo Dolls song.Flora - I love Flora, it has maturity and elegance. In my country, it reached its peak in the 1930s, but I doubt it would seem dated nowadays.
Hope: I like it, but not as much as I like Faith or Grace.
Iris: Never liked it. It's a beautiful image, riainows or flowers, but the sound is just sour to me, like you almost need to make a sour face to say it.Flora: Very pretty, a bit softer and sweeter than Florence, which I also like.
I like them.Hope is one that I'm always kind of on the fence about it. I think it's maybe too simple to satisfy me as a first name, but then it feels trite as a middle name. But I admire how solid it is. Iris is great; I like how mature it is. It's one of those names that is feminine but also very strong without being frumpy. Iris is "steely". It's vertical and slender, but it's resolute rather than willowy. Flora is beautiful, I like it a lot. It does sound old fashioned, but that's ok by me. Iris sounds very vintage as well; Flora and Iris are both very Edwardian.
I love Iris, it's in my top 10! I would seriously consider it for a daughter.I really like Hope. I recently used it as a character name. I enjoy it as a middle name, too.I've been back and forth on Flora. It was one of my first favorites as a little kid, but then I went through a phase of finding it sickly sweet and overly, well, floral. Now I'm somewhere in the middle. I think I've overthought it and I might like it if I actually met someone with the name. Anyhow, I prefer Florence.
I love Hope! Iris is timeless and lovely. Flora is kind of outdated, reminds me of Florida.
Iris - it sounds cute regardless of the pronunciation, both in European languages, Hebrew, and English. I usually am not a big fan of English pronunciation. I would give it an 8/10 simply for the pronunciation and English spelling.Hope - I don't like it, not a big fan of this name. I love other word names or virtue names. Faith and Grace are my favorites out of the most common ones. I think it deserves a solid 3/10Flora - I love Flora, it's very feminine and has a nice pronunciation, I really like it as a middle name. It has springlike Floral vibes and isn't overly common. 9.5/10
Iris is probably the only flower name I'd ever consider, apart from Rose as a nn.
Flora is OK, but Florence is a family name on both sides, so I'd use it without hesitation.
Hope seems slightly impolite: no happy certainty, just ... hope! And I don't enjoy virtue names in general.
I love Flora! A tragically underused floral name, and not a specific one, so it can evoke all sorts.
Hope and Iris are quite nice. I've been quite pleased to see Iris having a bit of an uptick in recent years. I think it deserves this, it feels so fresh in an -ella and -ia world.
Hope is a word to me not a name. I don't really like virtue names.Iris is lovely! Lovely meaning, lovely sound and intuitive to spell.I don't really like Flora because of the sound. It's okay with a proper long AH pronunciation at the end, like in Spanish and also the 'thinner' L sound, but the Fl- beginning and -uh ending in English really put me off.
I love all of them.
