A most wonderful children's book - The Little White Horse, by Elizabeth Goudge - has a character called Minette; in her case it's a pet form of Maria.

Perhaps Minette is a French form of Minetta, which is the German nickname for Mina and Wilhelmina.

The other meaning of minette (PA is suggested)With all due respect, "minette" is also French slang for cunnilingus

Really? As a Belgian living in Paris, never heard that one. Although Minette is originally the female of Matou, a street tomcat. Minou is also used as slang for the female sex, and minette refers, not to cunnilingus, but to a rather dolled-up young girl. Quite negative. Avoid.

MinetteHi Laura,
I found Minette as a French pet form for the name Guillemette which comes (via Guillermine) from the German name Wilhelmine. That's the feminine version of the Germanic name Wilhelm and it means "will, determination" + "protection".
