Kerenina
Who knows what Kerenina means? It's a girl's name and I think it originated somewhere in Europe. Thanks!Joanna L.

It sounds like Tolstoy's 'Anna Karenina'... also, I'm sure that it's a version of Katherine.

On Anna KareninaActually the surname Karenina signifies "(wife)of Karenin". Indeed, Anna is Karenin's wife in Tolstoy's novel.
I'm afraid that I could not find an etymology for Karen. Could be tghe name is ultimately related to Catherine. By the way, an excellent resource for Russky surnames is http://www.sca.org/heraldry/paul/index.html
