Hej Mika,

In Sweden, Mika is either short for Mikaela (Swedish form of Michaela, female form of Michael) or a pet form of Maria which came to Sweden via Low German pet forms:
Maria - Marie - Mariken (little Marie) - Marike - Mieke - Mieka

Hello!
Mika is a very common name in Finland, like Mika Häkkinen and Mika Waltari. I have never heard any girl named Mika, because it comes from Mikael.

You are the second Mika I've heard of. The other was a girl in the same classes with me last year at a college in Tennessee.

Really, that's all I have to say. Just wanted to tell you that. I don't think she knew what it meant either.
