Re: Meaning of the Name "Yeimi"
in reply to a message by Erika
I don't know where you found this, but in my experience Yeimi is just a Latin American Spanish respelling of Jamie, to give the same pronounciation in Spanish than Jamie has in English. So its origin would be the same as that of Jamie.

Sir,
The pronunciation in Spanish of "Yeimi" is three syllables, so your explanation is a bit off. My apologies, Yeimi is a South/Central American variant of the Spanish name "Jaime" not a respelling of the English name Jamie. Depending upon where you are in Spain or the Spanish speaking world, James can be "Jaime" in Eastern Spain (derived from the Hebrew "Chaim"), "Diego" in Western Spain (derived from "Iago" the Galician form of Jacob/James) and both in Central and South America with "Yeimi" or "Yeime" as alternative spellings. Similar to how the English name Jeffrey can be spelled Geoffrey, Jeffrey or Jeffery. I actually know someone with this name.
