Henry and Violette are settled in their house in NYC. They didn't expect, however, to have a new baby so soon after coming to the US. Luckily, both Henry and Violette speak English, so they haven't had too much trouble so far. Henry got a job just before Violette found out she was pregnant. He now works as a driver for a shipping company running from New York City to Philadelphia and back. He's away from home a lot, but the pay is good. Violette has found friends and support from others in the community--mostly immigrants too. Henry was at home when his son was born, and Violette was glad for that. They had a little boy, named Henry Jr. Since Henry's family is no longer supportive of him, the Scoffields have been sending letters to France, where Violette's family still lives. Out of the blue, Violette's two sisters decided they wanted to come to America too. Of course, Henry and Violette wanted to help them out as much as possible. The two of them, Amelie and Sabine, paid their own way, but are currently living with Henry and Violette.
