This is probably a tragedeigh spelling but I've always liked the look of Bryan better than Brian.
I think Brian is a good, strong name. I had no idea it's been around since the 11th century! That's pretty incredible. It gives it class and timelessness. Also, although “Brian” and “brain” are similar in spelling, they sound nothing alike; they do not even rhyme. I don't think that association is a problem. It's still a good name, in my opinion.
I was never a fan of this name. It sounds rather abrupt and basic and pretty unpleasant. Won't hate on any Brians though. I also don't think it sounds like brain.
To be completely honest, Brian looks and sounds nothing like ‘brain’, and would it even matter that much if it did? People here are treating it as if it’s a negative thing.Anyway, I really love this name and it’s one of my favourites, mainly because of Brian May but also because this name is handsome and will always suit someone no matter what age. People named Brian are extremely lucky and should be happy to have such a beautiful name!
Too associated with brain :/
Ugly
3/10.
Ugly, sounds like brain.
Too close to brain.
I hate it, it sounds ugly and hideous.
Really handsome name! There's no reason for people to hate it. It's just common, but who cares?! I actually prefer this over Bryan.
Gross, what a horrible, ugly, and disgusting name- no wonder it’s popular.
Very uninteresting name.
Love love love it! Has a good sound to it.
Handsome, although a little too common.
This is a timeless name that I'd personally consider for a child, if I ever had one. It's my father's name, and it's also the name of several of my favorite musicians (Brian Molko, Brian Eno, Marilyn Manson). I've always preferred this spelling, too, although "Bryan" is also nice. This spelling just looks softer to me.
I have always LOVED the name Brian. It’s my deceased older brother’s name and it fit him perfectly. It’s just a solid name for a man...handsome, bold, adventurous, kind, gregarious...yep, that’s my big brother! Love and miss you brother B!
I’m okay with both Brian and Bryan.
Oops! You spelled Bryan wrong. This name is spelled far too similar to brain. Doesn't matter to me that Bryan is a variant of this spelling, I still think the y spelling is better.
Brian is a dad name with a dad bod.
Guys, in my opinion Brian means very noble.
This is my favourite boy's name. There is so much strength and charm in it. But I strongly dislike the Bryan spelling. I don't know why, since I love Ryan too.
This name always seemed kind of plain to me, but I neither love it or hate it.
Brian is an awesome name for a guy! It's one of my fave Irish names. ^_^ ♥.
Brian is a fine name, though lacking in a distinct allure. I don't despise it, but it is not a personal favorite. I think that the right personality paired with certain names can heighten appeal.
I know Brian as primarily an Irish name, so naturally I like it. I prefer BRIAN to any other variant spelling such as Bryan. I think of a tall, strong, attractive Irish man. I have only known one Brian, but actually it was Bryan instead.
This is one of the few names I have a real hatred of. I've never in person met a Brian who wasn't vitriolic or dull as dish water respectively, and somehow they all seem to be mentally lacking in some way of form. It doesn't help that my hands type Brain automatically rather than Brian... and Brain's probably the better name! But... Brian Blessed is delightfully terrifyingly mad and possibly the loudest man in the world, so that's one connotation I can stomach.Incidentally, I just read it's used as a French surname, and at least in that context is derived from the Old Occitan word 'Brian' which means "maggot"... very obscure and backwards connotation... but what a HIDEOUS! association. It's put me even more off of the name, unfortunately.
A very trustworthy name, but I don't like the sound of it. It's the 'br' at the beginning.
So boring. I don't like it at all.
I like it, but I prefer "Bryan."
I just don't like it. Sounds ugly.
Nothing wrong with it besides for the tedious use.
Awesome name for strong and nice guy. Just great!
I love this name. Really. It sounds so elegant and gentle, without sounding utterly effeminate. And it's not too common these days, so that's a plus.
You can't really go wrong with this name. I can imagine this name on pretty much every sort of guy, including the fat and ugly ones. The name seems suitable for different races as well. It's a nice enough name that shouldn't lead to bullying or discrimination, and it ages well, but it is also hideosly common and totally overused, and has been for a long time. I have a feeling this might just be one of those names that unloving parents have lazily picked for their son. I associate the name with mostly decent people, like Brian Eno, whose 70s and 80s ambient music I love. Of course, this does also remind me of Brian Warner, better known as Marilyn Manson, who I have always considered a jerk. But well, there are plenty of Brians out there.
This name seemed to be popular some time ago, but it has faded out of popularity, apparently. The only Brians I know are both grownups. If I ever have kids, I might name a boy Brian, because of Brian May from Queen and my grandfather, whose name is Brian. At first I couldn't imagine calling a kid Brian, but now I can somewhat. It sounds nice.
I think that this is a very nice name for a boy.
Brian sounds like a smart, rich doctor's name. Very handsome, I love this name.
To be honest I think it's quite boring. And who could call a baby Brian?
I like this name. It is not common which is nice. It reminds me of a strong, brave person.
I like it, but it's very common where I am.
I love it. It makes me think of guitars. I love guitars :D I love this name, and every Brian I've ever met has had dark hair, I've only seen one with blonde hair. Brians rule.
I love the name - but I cannot forget my mum's friend. When he was born there was a typing error on his birth certificate which has never been changed. His legal name is Brain. But everyone calls him Brian. :)
This name is so sexy. I love it. ;D.
I think this is one of the most noble names in the world.
I have always liked the name Brian. It is a strong, handsome male name. A timeless classic.
This is such a hot name!
This is my dad's name. I think the name Brian sounds strong and brave.
