Cinderella

This name is really pretty but should stay as Cinderella the princess. You could name her Ella and nickname her Cinderella. But THIS as an actual name is just stupid. If you even THINK about naming your kid Cinderella, you're insane.

I love the Disney movie Cinderella and almost any media related to Cinderella but this would be awful as an actual name also one person here on this website said they named their daughter Cinderella and don't regret it like I'm sorry but WHAT!? There must be something really wrong with you to give your child that name like dude why couldn't you name your child Ella and nickname them Cinderella, parents please if you really love and care about you kids at all don't give a name people will easily make fun of because no kid should have the misfortune of having a name no one will take seriously.

New Amy, Lauren or Katie, perhaps?

I once FOUND the WORD "Cinderella" in a dictionary, which REALLY ASTONISHED me, because I didn`t think it was possible for people`s names to have definitions! So I LOOKED at the dictionary to FIND OUT the definition, and then I LAUGHED, ALL BECAUSE it said, 'Poor, neglected or unsuccessful person or thing!'. This definition did NOT make any sense, because Cinderella is NOT an object, NOR was she unsuccessful!

Too associated with the fairytale and definitely wouldn't age well.

Ellie for a nickname would be SOO cute!

My name is Cinderella. My dad named me, he thought it was a beautiful name. It’s actually been fun being named Cinderella. My kids love it. Compared to what people are naming their kids today, it’s not too bad.

Better to go with Cendrillon in my opinion. Probably a lot less teasing that way. Still kinda cute though? Maybe for a pet.

Too long and reminds me of cinders.

We called our daughter (first name) Cinderella, ignoring lots of warnings from others, because to us it symbolised strength of character and good fortune. We also thought if she did not like her name, she could call herself Ella, Cindy, Drella, Ellie or lots of other variations. So what happened? From the first, she loved her name. At nursery and primary school, other children were enchanted (Is that really your name? With a look of wonder). At secondary and university, it was just her name, along with all the other unusual names that children have nowadays (from many different backgrounds). I think she continues to bear her name with a sense of pride at its uniqueness.

My name is Cinderella too. I am 64 years old. My mom was Cinderella, my Great Aunt, my great, great Aunt, in fact I am number 7! I am also the last. No girls in the next generation.

I would not suggest naming your child Cinderella, since she would get bullied. Maybe Cinderella for a middle name.

My name is actually Cinderella and I've been looking for other Cinderellas out there lol. When I was a child about 6-13 I hated my name. Everyone in school sang the Cinderella song and it got annoying but I'm 17 as of now and I think I have the most beautiful name in the world.

Love it as a middle name. I knew a girl who's name was Princess! I think that's a little to hopeful. Although I said if my second daughter was born February 14 her name would be Cinnamon Heart. So who am I to judge the Princess or Cinderellas? I do like Anastasia a lot more.

Maybe it would be acceptable as a middle name, but I don't recommend using it as a first name. The association with the fairy tale is just too strong.

I have an ancestor whose first name was Cinderella. This Cinderella was born in 1815. According to little stories passed down and told to me by my great-grandmother even she got little comments like "Really?! Your parents named you Cinderella?" or "No, seriously. What's your name?"
She went by her middle name most of the time just to avoid the comments people made.

So if a woman born just about 200 years ago found the name a burden because of it's strong association with the fairy tale, how could a child or woman today not find it burdensome when not only is it associated with a fairy tale, but even more so associated with the lovely, fair complected, blonde, sweet, animated young lady with a sweet singing voice perpetually bedecked in a powder blue ball gown?
Cinderella is not just a name (a name that was chosen by her step-family as another way to humiliate her), but it's a very, very specific animated character. I would worry that any young girl named Cinderella today would always have people she met mentally comparing her to that late-1940's ideal of beauty in cartoon form.

I like this name, but it's a shame other people don't like the name because of the fairytale (it's a happy story?). This was a name WAY before the movie came out. I think Cindy would be a good nickname.

What an infantile name. I think it's silly to name your kid after the princess in a fairy tale. I wouldn't raise my eye at a relatively unknown one, but for goodness sake, this is a Disney movie. I'm not saying that makes the name worthless. But even in the story it was hardly a term of endearment. If you must have your little reference, name her Cendrillon- that's actually obscure and intriguing, at least more so than this curse of a name.

It's a pretty name, but hopelessly tacky. It sounds like a stripper name. It would be difficult for a woman named Cinderella to be taken seriously. People woud make fun of her from her childhood through adulthood, and just imagine how weird this name would be on an old woman!

I think that Cinderella might be a pretty name, but your child would be endlessly teased and would regret that you chose this name for them. What are you trying to symbolize with this name? That when you die/you're partner dies your child will be horribly off/you will make a horrible choice and be the cause of pain to your daughter before you too kick off? I wouldn't want people to think of that when they saw my kid.

I'd rather use this name for a pet than a child, if you know what I mean.

I like the fairy tale and all, but no little girl should have to use that name. In the story, Cinderella is what her step-family used in mockery of her dirty clothes and such.

Cinderella should only be used for middle names! Never name your kid Cinderella. Seriously, they would be made fun of for as long as they live! If you like it that much, use Ella.

I most definitely agree that this name should never be used in real life. I mean, it was a sweet story and everything, but it's like a curse. You'll scar the poor girl for life. Why would you name a girl "ashes"? Why would you name her after a character that was mistreated, abused, unloved, and unwanted by her family? That's horrible. No offence, of course, to anyone that likes this name or has this name, especially. That's just my opinion of this name. Using it, I mean.

Your child would be mocked. People would ask how her prince charming was doing, if she could say hi to the little mice, could she please hit her stepmother and sisters. Not a good name for a real person, let's leave Fairytale names for Fairytales please.

I know someone who is going to use the name Hannah Cinderella. I think it makes a cute middle name.
