Super ugly name with wilted meaning.

Jonathan was a prince of great strength in the bible. The name means “ Gift from God”. Love it❤️.

I'm not massively keen on it. John just on its own is better.

At first I thought my name was a bad name until I saw this, I really think Jonathan is a good name and I am now happy with my name.

There's something about the name Jonathan I like. I don't know what it is, I have met a few Jonathan's who were all sweet and fun loving. Jonathan sounds so much better than just plain John. Jonathan has a gentlemanly feel to it. I just love this name so much.

We have 3 boys - Jonathan, Samuel and Thomas - Jonathan is the oldest, we picked this name because it is strong, of good standing and internationally recognised (similar to Samuel and Thomas, which are 2 names it goes well with)

Too common in my country. When I was in 3rd grade, I was in the same class with a boy named Jonathan.

My 8 year old son's name! I think it's a wonderful, and it fits him great. We call him Nate as a nickname, and he seems to like it.

Jonathan has an advantage over John because you can identify by Jon or Jonathan. If you are named John, you are stuck with it (Unless you want to go by Jack, which I personally dislike).

Jonathan means the person is male. The person has great characteristics by honest, neat, amusing with open-minded. Who also has good heart to help everyone.

Truth be told, this is one of the only classic names I really enjoy. It's so strong and masculine, but also a touch of a gentleman and sounds so classy. I despise the nickname "John" though.

When I was a kid, I watched a lot of Rugrats. So the first think that comes to mind when I hear this name is the character Charlotte constantly yelling at her assistant, Jonathan. However, that's just me, and a lot of people probably wouldn't come to this association. It's a fine name for a boy, but I find it a rather boring, and I hate the nickname Jon.

Jonathan is a gorgeous name for a boy. I don't like it being shortened to Jon. It reminds me of Jon Davis from Garfield. I wonder if a Jonathan could be nicknamed Nathan because Nathan is the end of Jonathan. I would prefer that since I really don't like the nickname Jon. Jonathan was also a beautiful Biblical character, and close friend of David's.

My 8 year old nephew, my brother's son, is named Jonathan. I think it's a great name for a little boy as well as an adult. It's classic yet contemporary, youthful yet mature. It can suit a jock or a band geek all the same. It is quite popular, but it's a classic. If you like it, I say go for it :)

This is an awesome name, although for some reason I prefer john. But if you want something longer, Jonathan is an awesome choice! However, variants like johnathan or jonathon are not :/ I was really surprised as well as appalled that people actually have used this name on girls... What about this name sounds feminine in any way?! I personally don't think it's very popular, but that might be because I've only met 2 Jonathan's in my whole life. I think this is a beautiful name; so much history, a beautiful meaning, but does not sound overused... it's too classic for that. :) Jon is a lovely nickname as well. I prefer Jon to John.

I never really thought about the name until recently despite knowing at least 3-4 Jonathans over the years. I like that it's not plain old Jon (John) or plain old Nathan. I like it.

Anyway, in the Bible, I didn't see a friendship like Jonathan and David. Assuming one of them married a woman, they most likely weren't gay.

I'm a little tired of Jonathan. There are at least 3 in my grade out of 300+ kids and all are fairly popular, so whenever you talk about them it's like "Which Jonathan? Jonathan ____ or Jonathan ____?" "No, the other Jonathan!"

Jonathan is svelt, but sometimes the simpler option is nicest -- I prefer John.

A very beautiful name, usually possesed by a very smart, cute and beautiful lad.

This is one of those names that you can't really complain about, a very safe choice, sounds fairly pleasant, you can get decent nicknames out of it, suits all sorts of guys, and all that. Having said that, it's a pretty damn dull choice, and something lazy parents are likely to choose because they just pick whatever is common or whatever some relative is named. Still, this beats lazily constructed modern names.

My brother is named Jonathan, and I always call him Jonny, however everyone else calls him Jon. I also have a friend called Jonathan (Jonty) and a friend with a baby brother Jonathan (Jonny). I think it leaves doors open for a lot of nicknames, which is always good for determining the child's personality. My first son will have this a nickname, after my brother.

I would want to name my first son David and give him Jonathan as a middle name. I think it's great that the names bear some sort of connection.

I really love the name Jonathan and its conotations in the Bible. I actualy really love the combination Jonathan David, sounds so much like a boy who was strong in his convictions and passionate about his friends. I really like it and would name my first boy this.

I really like this name. I met a German boy with this name once and everybody called him Jonie. I really like the English and German pronunciation and the Dutch one is growing on me. I also love the name David so I like the fact that they were friends in the bible. (even though I'm the opposite of Christian)

I really like this name. Whenever I hear it I think of David's friend from the Bible. Jonathan was always one of my favorite characters in the Bible - he loved David no matter what, even when his Dad was trying to kill David (true friendship there). I would love to name my first son this.
