First of all, I really like Lily. I love the nickname Lil. However, I have a bit of a negative associations of meeting a few other Lily's that weren't very nice sadly. There might be nicer Lily's out there.

Too overused- when I was in school each class had about three Lilys in it. I don’t think it’s a bad name but I’m sure Lily would get confused with a bunch of other people. If you want to use a flower name, I’d say go with something less common like Violet or Rose.

I think the name Lily is really sweet. I think the longer forms such as Liliana, Lillian and Lilia are very cute too. It’s definitely on my baby name list. Just a heads up, you can talk about a name without constantly, and I mean constantly, bringing up the fact it’s popular/common. Trust me, we know. No one is naming their kids Lily cause they think they’re being unique, they’re choosing Lily cause it’s a gorgeous, sweet & simple name. Popular names are popular for a reason and it doesn’t make you any more special than the next to dislike popular names. You don’t have to be “different” all the time!

I used this as a prefix for one of my Warrior Cats OCs, Lilywhisker. Although, she ran away from her clan and changed her name to just plain "Lily", but I still think it's really pretty! It's short, sweet, and ages well. It could also fit for a nickname for a longer name, such as Lilith or Lillian, but Lily is also cute on its own. I'm considering using this as a name for someone... maybe a daughter, maybe a pet, we'll see.

What happens is that Lily is clearly a little girl's name, I can't imagine a Lily that's more than twelve or thirteen years old, really. I think Lily should only be used as a nickname, not as a full name. I don't know, pick a name like Elizabeth, Alice, Liliana, Olivia, Allison, Lilianne, Aurelia, Liana, Lianne, Libby, Liberty, Linnette, Lydia, Lillian, Lilah or any other name that contains the word "li" somewhere. I decided then I would name my daughter Lily or a variant of it. When I found out I was having a daughter in 2003, I decided to add the name Ann to it since so many family members had that name. So her final name is "Lilyann". NOT Lilian. Looking back on it, I would have spelled it "Lily-Ann". That way people could not take a quick look and mispronounce the name.
