From an Ossetian form of the name George. In Ossetian mythology, this is the name of a patron god and the father of Satanaya. He is considered the patron of the present-day North Ossetia-Alania. He is still worshipped today in Uatsdin, the Scythian pagan religion practised by the modern-day Ossetians.
