Boy only (it's in my top ten). I prefer the spelling Sidney (though Sydney (b) is also on my list).Trendy for a girl, fits in with the unisex/boys' name and surname trends. Nice for a boy, because it's something different.(As you said what *I* would pair with it I've only done boys)
Sidney Jonathan
Sidney John
Sidney Paul
Sidney Laurence
Sidney Michael
Sidney William
Sidney Frank
Sidney Charles
Sidney Francis
Sidney Abraham
Sidney Tristan
Sidney Calum
Sidney Edward
Sidney George
Sidney James (even though it was an actor).
Sidney David
Sidney Bertram
Sidney Frederick
Sidney Thomas
Sidney Daniel
Sidney Jack
Sidney Theodore
Sidney Percival
Sidney Peregrine

An old and primarily British actor, born 1913 and died 1976. He is mainly known for being in a series of comedy films, the Carry On films. It's only from them I know him but he is the main reason I can't see Sidney/Sydney on girls at all. This fella: http://www.carryonline.com/carryonline/sidjames.htmlI too like the combo Sidney James but it really is unusable for me. A Carry On fan using Sidney James would just be too much. :)

I don't like it. I think it's trendy-on-the-way-out. The worse kind of trendy. Sorry. :(Oh, and I see it for a girl. Sidney is boy to me.

Somewhat trendy, but not terrible. I like this name, because there was a cute (and great!) dancer in my little sister's recital named Sydney. It isn't the worst name, but not my style... definitely a little girl's name.

I like that name. I think it's more a boys name, especially when spelled Sidney. If you use it for a girl, I'd spell it Sydney.

Girl, and very trendy. My DH absolutely loves this name, and if we had had a girl, he wanted to name her Sydney, because of Syndey Bristow on Alias. Only after meeting several girls named Syndey, I just find the name very trendy and a substitute for girls who should have been named Brittany.

I like it for a girl, and I think I would pair it with Ann.
