[Opinions] Clara or Calla?
Both my husband and I are stuck between Clara and Calla.
Which do you like best? And if you wouldn't mind saying why you like one more than the other (nothing to lengthy necessary , of course. :))

Clara, no question. Sweet with a classic feel.:)

ClaraClara is gorgeous and sophisticated and also simple and underused. Calla is also lovely but it feels trendy and a bit flimsy.

Honestly, I don't love either but much prefer Clara because Calla reminds me of the word callous. I do like the nick, Callie, though.

ClaraCalla's pretty and OK, but Clara has much more history and thus more substance and strength to me.

Clara, because it sounds more complete. Calla seems very nicknamey sounding to me.

CallaI just think it's prettier. It brings the smooth, elegant lines of the calla lily to mind. In comparison, Clara--a name I usually find quite pretty--sounds like a milkmaid.

CallaI can't really say Clara properly so that's probably the main reason for me disliking the name. =/ I love Claire, though! I prefer the meaning and softer sound of Calla.

Definitely Clara. I've loved it since I was a little girl (thanks to "The Nutcracker" and a book about the founder of the Red Cross, Clara Barton). I loved Calla for a while, and I still like it, but it has an almost trendy feel to it, and also might be mistaken for Kayla (in sound at least), which I REALLY don't like. BTW, I know a now teenage girl named Calla Elizabeth who has an older sister named Anja Maria. Their mom said Calla's name came from two places--Princess Calla from the "Gummi Bears" tv show and the song from "Mary Poppins" (super-calla-frajulistic...etc.; they used to call her Super Calla for that reason, lol).

Clara hands down. Calla does not feel like a "real name" to me.

Clara mCalla is too much like a guys name. Clara is feminine but not overbearingly and you can call her Claire!

ClaraClara seems like a fuller more complete name. Calla while acceptable as a full name is kind of nicknamey. Clara would just age better.

Clara. It's simple and elegant. Calla is awkward sounding and sounds more like a nn to me.

That wasn't an option :-/

ClaraAlthough Calla is pretty, having a gardener for a mum has done certain things to my brain, one of which is that whenever I hear 'Calla', I have to add 'lily' on. Just one of those weird things! Clara, on the other hand, feels lovely and calm and English (also reminds me of Claire, one of my favourite names); I get the same feeling from it as I do from Beth. It also reminds me of the girl in 'Heidi' who Heidi teaches to walk again.
ETA: to clarify after reading another post regarding prn, I would only prn Clara 'KLAH-ra', as opposed to KLAIR-uh, which I don't like at all, despite sounding more like Claire. If you're pronounching it as the latter, then I like Calla better.

ClaraCalla makes my mouth feel weird when I say it. Clara is just pretty and has a really pleasant sound. Clara all the way!

Clara, hands downDon't get me wrong, I love Calla, but only as a nn.
Clara is just more substantial on it's own than Calla is.

I can live with either of them, though I feel Clara would probably age better. I am more inclined to actually say I like Calla more for it's general appeal.

Calla reminds me of lilies and a cat and I think it sounds childish and unrefined. Clara is beautiful. It spans all generations while Calla does not. Calla also seems a lot like Callie and Kaylee and get grouped in with that feel for me, while Clara just epitomizes a sweet and sophisticated girl of any age.

Clara, no question ;)Although this does depend on how you are pronouncing it. I love the Clah-rah prn. but can't stand Clair-uh.Why? The sound just appeals more, and I love the meaning. Calla is nice too, but I much prefer Clara.

Calla, no questionI think Calla is okay, it's grown on me. I don't like Clara at all (and Claire, Clare etc.), also it's a bit of a cow's name.
