[Opinions] Natalie
These are just some questions I'm wondering about concerning the name Natalie.1) Do you know a lot of Natalies?
2) What do you think of (particularly of the person) when you hear the name?
3) What nickname would you give?
4) Would you name your child this?
5) Have many Natalies been the main character of a book?
6) Are there any middle names you would recommend?
Thanks in advance.
Now for why I'm asking......I'm writing a story and the main character I believe will be called Natalie. She's nothing special, average. Dark brown-red hair and dark green eyes. It's sort of important that her name is really popular because she is searching for something to make her different.

1) Do you know a lot of Natalies? - 22) What do you think of (particularly of the person) when you hear the name? - I think its sweet and pretty, I like it.3) What nickname would you give? - I probably wouldn't give it one, but my friend Natalie goes by Nat, Nattie and Tully.4) Would you name your child this? - Probably not, its a little too mainstream for my general tastes. But I do like it.5) Have many Natalies been the main character of a book? - I can only think of one, 'Tully' by Paullina Simons. Though I love the book, the character isn't the best thing to be named after. Still, though, its not my first association when I think of Natalie, so I don't think it matters.6) Are there any middle names you would recommend? I think Natalie goes with pretty much anything. The Natalie's I know are Natalie Anne and Nataline Caroline, but I think you could go pretty crazy with the middle name here.

ThanksI think Natalie is either going to be Natalie Grace, Natalie Claire, or Natalie Virginia. I'll have to decide I suppose but right now her middle name isn't going to be mentioned. Eventually it will though and then I'll have to pick. =DThank you again.

ThanksI totally forgot about Natasha. It's like the equivalent of Natalie in Russia or something. (Or nickname, I forget.) Thanks!Natalie Virginia works. And I could make it where she's from Virginia instead of just from another city in Georgia. I mean, I already was going to make it where she moved to the town she is now. Her parents sort of wanted to document the moment of birth -- Natalie was born in December ... Christmas. If she was born in VA.....

1) Do you know a lot of Natalies? I know a handful around my age (26) - it was #60 in the US in my birth year. Natalie has become much more popular since then.2) What do you think of (particularly of the person) when you hear the name? This is one of my favourite more popular names, I just love the sound. I have only ever really been close with one Natalie, so it reminds me of her (sweet, sort of shy, wanting to grow up faster than she was).3) What nickname would you give? Nata, but not Nat (I did know one Natalie who went exclusively by Nat and she was not my favourite person. Also, it's just like gnat.)4) Would you name your child this? I wouldn't, but only because it's too popular now. But I am always happy when someone has this name.5) Have many Natalies been the main character of a book? Not any I've read, not that I can think of right now.6) Are there any middle names you would recommend? Natalie Anwen

Natalie Elinor
Natalie Fiona
Natalie Imogen
Natalie Isadora
Natalie Jemima

Natalie Odessa
Natalie Philippa

ThanksThank you for all the middle name suggestions as well as the other answers. I hate to admit it, but I feel the same about Madison. It used to love it as a kid and thought nothing of its popularity. I thought it was unique because it was on this billboard in Conyers (around Atlanta). But now I realize the popularity. However, when you come across a sweet little baby with the name....aww....

1) Do you know a lot of Natalies?
No, none. This surprises me because it's ranked #8 in my state.2) What do you think of (particularly of the person) when you hear the name?
I picture an intelligent, witty, capable, and somewhat reserved woman with either dark brown or blonde hair.3) What nickname would you give?
I'd use Natalie in full most of the time and Nat occasionally.4) Would you name your child this?
No, but not because there is anything wrong with the name. I like it, but I already have a child who's name starts with "N," and it's a little too popular for me for a girl's name.5) Have many Natalies been the main character of a book?
I'm sure there are, and I've probably read of a few. Nothing specific comes to mind, however.6) Are there any middle names you would recommend?
Tess, Emma, Victoria, Sophia

ThanksWow that is a bit surprising that you don't know one. That's good that you picture Natalie as that. I hope the one in my story can come to realize that she isn't so run of the mill.
Thank you!

1. I've only ever known one Natalie and she was a horrible person. She was stuck-up and narrow mineded and used to bully me at school.
2. I guess the above answer tells you all you need to know.
3. I wouldn't use a nickname for Natalie since most of them sound boyish. Natty could be use but to me it sounds like a description for someone who is annoying or ditzy. Tally is your best best there I think.
4. Never.
5. None in any books I've read.
6. Though I don't like the name I think Natalie Claire has a nice ring to it for some reason.

Yes, I know what you mean. I get the same feel from the name. However, that's sort of the beauty of it all. This Natalie hates her name and she hates superficiality. She wants to be different and not have to wear certain clothes to have friends. I was thinking of Nate but I may just decide to go with full out Natalie. I agree Natalie Claire works.

I like the name, but I know at least four or so Natalie's.
One uses the nickname Nat, and one Tally.
I probably wouldn't name my child this, as it is quite common.

ThanksYeah, I realize the popularity. It's probably the one name everybody in the world recognizes at popular. (I looked it up.)I've heard of Nat but Tally is new. At the character's school there are two Natalies besides her. One goes by Nat and the other was to go by Natalie Marie, her full name. But now, the second one can go by Tally....or maybe Tallie as a reference to her height as well.
Thank you! =)
