[Opinions] Magdalena and Caitlin
Hi everyone! I was wondering, what do you think of the names Magdalena and Caitlin? Your opinions can be on real life or in fiction, but I'd like to hear them. c:Also, do you think Caitlin is too... modern, to be used in say, a steampunk fantasy or something more... I don't know, medieval? I lurked around on a website, I think it was Saint Gabriel, awhile back and it seemed like the name itself goes awhile back (if I remember right, it was like the 14th century or something) in which it probably had the Irish pronunciation, but yeah. Do you think it's too modern, atleast with the American pronunciation, with all of the Caitlyns, Kaitlynns, and Katelyns running around? As for Magdalena, does it sound too... old? Or is it refreshing and nice? Or does it give off a religious vibe?

Where I live, Magdalena is very common on older women and usually shortened to Magda or Daleen. So I find Magdalen fresher and more interesting.Caitlin has a very modern vibe, unlike, say, Isabel or Margaret, which you could play both ways.

I actually think Caitlin sounds very old, and I can imagine it easily in a medieval setting. Spelled thus, I've always found Caitlin to be beautiful. Magdalena is equally as gorgeous. I don't think it sounds "too old", and although I do think of Mary Magdalene, it is not an overwhelming association.
