I like it on a baby. So much better than trendy names like Emma, Ella, Charlotte... +

It isn't very youthful, for sure, but it has a touch of sparkle to it that Hannah, for instance, completely lacks. It's classy but also very down-to-earth.

I like it a lot (I tend to love names which start with E!)I know two people called Esther, one is my age (24) and one is 14. I don't really see it as an "old lady" name anymore, although I used to.

I like it a lot but I'm not sure I like it enough to use it myself but it's lovely for someone else's daughter.
I know a twin set named Esther and Thea. They are three years old.

I really like Esther and think Essie would make a really cute nickname

I love Esther, though I prefer Hester, which I adore.

I think that it could work. She could always be Essie or Terry if she wanted a nick name.

I strongly dislike this name, and I don't know why. Esther is an amazing character in the bible, it has a great meaning - and I cannot stand the name. At all I love Edith, I love Edna - but I despise Esther. Go figure.

I guess it's a bit old fashioned but it's a really pretty name. Particularly like the meaning! I know a girl my age (early 20s) called Ester and it works. I think it works quite nicely on a child

I hate it. It's one of the worst names I've ever heard.

I like it, and I've liked all the Esthers I've met.I think it sounds youthful but at the same time sort of quaint.

I like it enough to find it suitable for all ages! I'd love to meet a baby one. Much nicer than Hester, for instance, which really seems very dusty and cobwebby. And since it was never uber-faddy, it isn't tied to a particular age of owner, unlike Gladys and Linda. Though I do know a mid-20s Gladys, so nothing proves anything.

I love the name Esther. Hannah and Esther are great for a mum and daughter too. I actually have a niece who will be 8 years old later this year who is named Esther. I think it works well for a female of any age.

I really love Esther, it's a favorite of mine, both as Esther and also the Hispanic spelling, Ester. I like it with the nn Tess.Ewan McGregor has a daughter named Esther, and if it's good enough for Ewan... ;-)
