I love the name Zoe, it's really pretty, but also spunky at the same time. I would probably give it a 9/10, because it's very popular here in Australia. I pronounce it zo-ee, with a strong e sound at the end. I actually have a cousin in her 20's with this name. Combos I like are:

I've only ever heard it pronounced to rhyme with 'showy'.
Probably I'd like it better if it hadn't belonged to my junior-school headmistress, who was also a good friend of my mother's. She was extremely soft-spoken and very alarming, but every now and then she and my mother would have a long, giggly telephone conversation which amazed my young self every time.
As it is, I think I prefer Chloe.
The headmistress's mn was Mabel. Zoe Mabel is a good combo, I think. Or, what about

I like it! It's in my top 50 for girls. I give it an 8/10 because I do like a lot of other names better.

I love it, and zow-ee. I dislike Zoey as a spelling. It looks ridiculous. Technically, there is an argument that Zoe should rhyme with Joe or Jo. I think that most people would pronounce it zow-ee, and that is therefore the social norm. Zoe Elizabeth is lovely, but there are so many options, that would work well with this short, sweet name. Charlotte, Evelyn, Joanne and Josephine come to mind for me.

I don't really like the sound of this name. It is too brash or something, and it always reminds me of Sesame Street. That said, ever since my cousin had a baby with this name last year, it has grown on me a bit. It also has a pretty cool meaning and history.
Rate it, out of 10? I would give it a 5 or 6.

I used to really love it. Then it got crazy popular. I've met so many. It is a nice name and I like its meaning but it is so overdone. I also dislike all alternate spellings especially Zoey which is more common than the original in the US :/
I pronounce it ZO-ee in English and I would rate it a 7/10. It is really nice but so common. Even though Chloe is even more common I prefer that. There is something elegant and down to earth about Chloe which I like.

I love it, but then I think I'm biased---as many here already know, it was my mother's name. At her birth and throughout her lifetime (1928 - 1983), unlike now, Zoe was an extremely unusual name. Nobody but nobody back then would ever say they liked the name Zoe. It was just the Epitome of Weird. So I think that made me defensive early on, lol, and predisposed me to liking it once it started to become popular.
As far as pronunciation goes, my family pronounced my mom's name to rhyme with "toe", with no final E sound. For a while I defended that pronunciation as being a legitimate alternative one, but now I'm ready to admit it was just incorrect. But weirdly, when I went to college, and I had a roommate my freshman year whom I hadn't previously known, her name was Zoe, and she also pronounced it to rhyme with "toe". It was quite a coincidence that she had the same name as my mother, since it was such an unusual name at that time.
It's my daughter's middle name, and since she was named after my mother, I think of her middle name as being pronounced to rhyme with "toe". But I don't object to the ZO-ee pronunciation, and in fact, I prefer it.
On a scale of 1 - 10, with 10 being the best, I rate it 10!
