[Facts] Meaning of Monaca
I have searched many sites to try and determine the meaning of my name but on luck. My mother said she found it in a book for girls' names and liked it but that is all. I would like to know what it means and where it comes from. If anyone could help or tell me where to look, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

Either the feminine form of Monaco, or a form of Monica (possibly derived from the American pronunciation), I would hazard a guess at.

The Pennsylvania place name Monaca is a shortened form of Monacatootha, the name of a Native American active in the area during the French and Indian war.http://www.bchistory.org/beavercounty/BeaverCountyCommunities/Monaca/Monaca.htmlHowever, it's probable that as a girls' name Monaca is simply an alternative spelling for Monica.

I guess it's a feminine form of Monaco, which means "monk". So you could say it means "female monk"!
There is also a Chamoru (Guamese) name Monaeka, which means "doll".Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if only one remembers to turn on the lights
