[Opinions] Araminta
I hate this name. Does anyone else hate it, too? Hmm. Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

I don't hate it, but I don't mind if others like it. I can see the nickname Minty. I also saw the name Rosminta and its along the lines of Araminta.

Yep. And Arabella

Not a name I'd give a child. and she'd be bound to be called Minty.

It's over-elaborate and pointless, like putting metres of nylon 'lace' on a piece of transparent plastic. Why bother? Presumably because it was part of the 18th century fashion for expanding, Latinising and generally mucking up ordinary names to give them a zingy modern vibe: Maria, not Mary, Lucinda, not Lucy, Sophia people wherever you turned ... but its brief spell of spontaneous life ended centuries ago and I see no need to summon it back from the grave!

Maria is a much older form than Mary, though, and while Mary is only used in English-speaking countries, Maria is common worldwide. I wouldn't say it has a "zingy modern vibe".

Maria was the zingy, modern version of Mary in the 18th century. Sorry if that wasn't clear!

I wouldn't say I hate it, but it's quite stuck up.

I love it. I'd totally use it. I think it would sound nice with Theodora and Hermione.

I know one ..Her sister is called Jasmine.Jasmine lucked out. Araminta sounds silly and even Minty is silly on a woman I'm her 30s.(Jasmine is 29, so slightly ahead of her time)

I do ...It's a BTN darling, seems to me, but I can't understand why except it's old and nobody uses it anymore.
It sounds like mouthwash.

I don't hate it, but I definitely dislike it.

I don’t hate it, but I do strongly dislike it. I feel like it should sound pretty and exotic, I guess, but that -minta ending is unappealing in my opinion. It’s disappointing.

I don't hate it but it screams spoiled rich kid to me. Minty's family definitely owns a few racehorses and holiday mansions.

Nope, sorry! I absolutely love it. Love the nns Minty and Minnie, too. If hubby would agree I’d use it in a heartbeat.

I like it, actually, and I adore the nickname Minty.

I hate it. The "Ar" is awkward and the "mint" is too minty. I don't dislike mint at all, but I don't like when names remind me of a food.

Well, it's better than Arabella because "-minta" is vastly more interesting than "-bella."

Hi !!!The aram- part puts me off because of haram and harem.I prefer both Amaranta and Aminta over it.I also love Minta and Minty. They reminds me the mint a taste that I love. I would use both as full names, not short of it.The fact is that Araminta itself is too elaborated and the meaning is incertain. I can see it in Harry Potter or another story full of witches and wizards. It is fascinating but nothing I would choose in real life.

I hate/love it. It reminds me a bit of Allegra, Lavinia, Lucinda.

I honestly like it, but I don’t think I would ever use it in real life. Or at least not as a first name. I like the nickname Minty.
