[Opinions] Lalage
Lalage is one of my longstanding favorites; sadly, it rarely receives recognition, and when it does, it gets pilloried. Are there any Lalage admirers out there, or am I alone? For the record, I pronounce it like so: "LAH [the vowel sound in "bat"] - "luh" [the vowel sound in "but"] -- "jee" [as in "Gee whiz!]. Here's the pronunciation in IPA: ˈlælədʒiːI'm perhaps most charmed by the name's ties to ancient poetry and its modern incarnation as the genus of passerine birds known as trillers: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lalage_(bird)Here are some combos:Lalage Acantha

Its pronunciation gets a down vote from me.

Lalage honestly looks like the name of a very strange sea creature (probably because it reminds me of “algae”) - and sounds like some gibberish that a toddler would sing. “La-lah-gee!”. That is what comes to mind. I do like the ties to ancient poetry, though.

The lady in the Latin poem makes me love the name, dulce ridentem as she eternally is! But the modern pronunciation is a stumbling block. If only it didn't rhyme with 'analogy'. But that disqualifies it from use IRL, at least for me.
