Help[Opinions] Lee-Annette
I found this while trying to document some of my old childhood papers into my computer. There will probably be more names to come as a result and I work through that project. It was supposed to be pronounced similarly to Leonette I believe. WDYT?
BTW's and trigger warning: this name was in a poem I wrote as a kid about how I felt victims should forgive abusers even when they don't deserve it nor apologize. It was inspired by Cosette from Les Misérables after listening to the musical the first time on a CD. It was basically a fanfic of her being saintly and forgiving all the people that wronged her before dying tragically young to go to heaven. So fun, normal, cheery stuff for puberty all around I guess. I envisioned this as a child saint's name. Do you agree with Mini Me's interpretation?

It doesn't remind me of a saint's name.
It's very 1950s and the problem is that they run into each other so people will think her name is Leonette, as you wrote.
So why not Leonette? It's actually not bad and more interesting. I dislike hyphens and Leonette feels less dated.

Lee is okay but everyone'd middle name pre-1970 or so together with Marie, Anne, Ann, Lynn and Jean, Joan, Jane, June. Annette is sort of cute on its own but needs something more interesting to spice it up.

I agree I think the Leigh spelling would have looked a little bit more cohesive. I think at this point in time I hadn't really dipped my toes into the water of elaborate, unusual names so I was pairing them up in 2's to accomplish this effect.

Well, Leonette is fine, but I don't like Lee-Annette. It looks like a hot mess when it's written down.

Yeah I don't have the same views on that stuff that I did as a child of course (when I currently was going through such things at the time) but it is kind of an interesting dive into the psyche of a victim who has not yet realized that they are in fact one.

I think that forgiveness brings great spiritual benefit, if it is sincere and unforced, but I don't believe that that means one "should" do it. Everyone has different experiences and personal setups, and each journey is individual.
For some reason, there's a huge difference to me between "it's a good idea" and "one should do it."

It's probably worth noting that I grew up in a particularly strict, fundamentalist church that bordered on/probably was a cult. So of course "forgiving abuse no matter what, period" was a reoccurring theme of the backdrop 😅 we had public shamings, and excomunications, and all sorts lol

I don't like Lee-Annette, it's too lengthy and runs uncomfortably with each other. I prefer Lee-Ann or Annette-Lee as a name.
I disagree with the mini version's point of view where victims should forgive abusers. I just somehow think that the abusers would take advantage of the victim's forgiveness and they would repeat the same wrongdoings again. But it's up to the victim, of course.
