[Opinions] Ariadne
WDYTO Ariadne as a first name for a girl? It's a name I've loved for a very long time, but it's been quite a while since I actually considered using it.I would pronounce it ahr-ee-ADD-nee (the second A as in attic, flag, apple, etc). As usual, comments and combos are appreciated. ;) Thanks.Array

It's pretty, and I actually know someone by this name. But she exclusively goes by "Ari". Edited: I didn't even realize this was you posting this, Array. I just blindly responded. You're coming up with a lot of non-Array type names lately, imo. But change can be good, eh? :b

I've been told twice that this one is severely un-Array. I'm curious--what does an Array name consist of? ;DArray

Must have "star" in it or have what I call "old-lady-chic". :b j/k

PrettyI like it, but not until I knew how it was pronounced. I think a good number of people wouldn't know how to pronounce it at first glance either

Wow, this is definitely not an "Array" name in my view, but why not? :)I'd say ahr-ee-AHD-nee. ahr-ee-ADD-nee sounds really weird. It's either ahr-ee-AHD-nee or air-ee-ADD-nee to me, and combining the two just doesn't work. But it's a nice name said ahr-ee-AHD-nee, though I'm afraid I don't like the other pronunciations at all.I prefer Ariana and Arianne / Ariane, but I'm quite sure you'll hate them, heh.

Actually, I'm quite fond of Ariane. :D I mostly love how the -ane ending looks. I don't care for how it sounds so much as how it looks, so I'd only consider it for a character--then it doesn't have to sound like anything to me!And how's it not an Array name? It's uncommon, mythological, has a nice, silvery sound... ;)Array

I love it. I actually know someone with the name, but I liked it long before I met her. I prefer the second A prn. as ah as it is in Greek.

I think it's nice, but it's probably not something I'd use myself. I'd worry people would call her Adrianne or something often. Some combo ideas:
Ariadne Katherine
Ariadne Kate
Ariadne Laure
Araidne Olive
Araidne Jade
Ariadne Lilith
Ariadne June
Ariadne Rose

I love it. I actually made a post of it myself the other day. I found it very interesting. I seen that the name Arianna, which I love, was derived from Ariadne. I think Ariadne is beautiful :)

I adore it. It's one of my favourite girl names - something I'd consider for my daughter, if I'll ever have one.

Ariadne is nice, but the pronunciation seems clumsy to me. I stumble over the syllables trying to say it and the first thing that I think of when I read it is an Arachnid.

I love it, it used to be my favourite girls name but I'm starting to prefer Ariadna now

I really like Ariadne, and pronounce it with all short "A"s. It looks good, sounds good (I like the "ee" sound, like with Daphne and Xanthe) and it has a fabulous legend behind it.It's a little unusual for me to use myself, but I don't think that's a problem for you ;)

Wow, you're going to have an army of girls' names and two boys! :PI really am. :D It's sad, but on the upside, I'd much rather have girls anyway....Which means, of course, that Murphy's Law is going to bless me with a dozen little boys, every last one of them named Morpheus, Edmond, Nathaniel, or Ray. ;)Array

I like it.I pronounce it ahr-ee-AHD-nee. It's not something I would use, but it definatly can work.

I love Ariadne. I pronounce it with all A's short. (I hate to bore everyone again with "no ah in my accent", but it does make a difference!)It reminds me of Ariadne Oliver more than anyone else. I don't know if you've read any of the Christies she features in, but like Poirot and Marple, she was quite a character :-)

Ariadne is a great name fairly uncommon yet with history attached to it.
