So Im getting a reborn doll on Saturday. Can't wait! (:
The hardest part about getting her is the name. Im struggling. I want something that I love. So I have come up with a list of some names I like, and maybe she'll be called. But I'm not 100% sold on any of them yet.
Can you help? Rate and comment your thoughts on the following names..

Girls: Lorraine & Rosemary
Boys: David, Warren / Wallace, Aubrey, Maverick & Gideon

I like Wendy Olive and Annie Lorraine. They have personality. The others are too perfect and boring.
However, I'd tweak it to Gwendolyn Olive or Winifred Olive "Wendy". Or Wendy Olivia. The two names - both heavy on the first syllable and only two syllables long - make it a bit clunky. But maybe that's why I like it? hmm.
Can I mess about with the combos a bit?

Reborn dolls are super cool. I own two and I wish I had the money to purchase a few more, but I keep asking myself what I keep planning to do with these. Funny how pretty things make people spend a small fortune just to have them.

• Piper Ann -Piper isn't my style because to me it seems very childish and immature so I have take a dislike to it. Plus, it runs in circles with Tanner and Collier and Hunter and the rest. But if those are your style, then so be it. I personally prefer Anne, but if Ann is your thing, there's nothing wrong with it.
• Annie Lorraine -Don't like Annie as a full name. Cute as a nickname for another fuller An- name though (e.g. Annabelle, Adriana, Susannah, Gianna, Roxanne, etc). Lorraine is fine.
• Penelope Ann "Penny"** -Not my style, but cute if it is.
• Clementine Lily "Clem" -Doesn't flow to me. I prefer Lily Clementine, but this is my favourite of your choices because I like both names.
• Wendy Olive -Okay, I like these in different ways. I like Olive because it seems classy, yet still a bit unconventional. I like Wendy because I think of fantastical things and other things to do with Peter Pan.
I pick one of the last two suggestions personally.

Really, it's only a doll, so you should just name it whatever you feel like at the moment. You can always change it next week if you think of something better.

I bought a reborn doll in 2006 and I don't even like the name I gave her and I couldn't bear to change it now because that's her name. You don't just change a name years later.
The value of a doll is in the eye of the owner, just as the value of anything else.
You don't just change the name of the family pet even if it's a hermit crab. You don't change a child's stuffed animals' names. You don't change the name of the town you live in even if it only has 57 people in it.
Reborn dolls, if you are unfamiliar, are a work of art. They take hours and hours to make and the artists make exactly one of them and they cost hundreds to thousands of dollars so they are like priceless artwork. Don't disrespect that please.

I had names for everything, but you never would have guessed I was a namenerd that early on. A couple of my dolls were even named Rachael, because I was super kre8tyve.
I had no qualms about changing my toys' names, though. If I had a doll/stuffed animal I felt differently about as I got a little older, I would rename it. I think renaming a Reborn would be a little different, since, you know, it looks just like a real baby, but a regular doll or stuffed animal? Eh. I remember doing that, and I don't think it's a big deal.

My mother had several dolls as a child, and they didn't have names except when she played with them, whereupon she named them something for the purpose of whatever game or story she was playing. They were all most often called Katrina, and in fact her brothers and sisters were sure I was going to be named Katrina.

I had hundreds of dolls and stuffed animals and it's almost offensive to me to suggest renaming any of them.
I still have at least twenty stuffed animals in a bay window in my room and a few years ago, I wrote their names on their tags so they would get to keep their names if my little cousins took them to play with or anything else happened.
I just have a Velveteen Rabbit complex and I want to think my toys have feelings and therefore should be able to keep consistent names.

I discussed this with my mother.
She has know taken credit for making me think this seriously about stuffed animals being sentient creatures.
She said she was pretty serious about it with me when I was younger because it was cute and "magical."
Now she admits she didn't expect me to hold onto that into adulthood, but between that and things likeToy Story, I'm doomed.

I was not disrespecting the dolls. I know what they are, and I know they're expensive and handmade, and I know you can get them on the Internet for a couple hundred. I know some people think of them as works of art, and with the high price they're fetching for them, they definitely more art than toy.
However, they're still dolls. If somebody is so attached to a doll and can't bring themselves to change the name they gave it, that is their problem and not mine.
The doll is not real even if it looks real. It doesn't care if it has a different name every week.

I hate the name Piper because I view her as a snooty highschooler type. Ann is okay but I prefer Anne.

Penelope Ann is sweet and in this instance, I think the spelling Ann looks best.
Clementine is very sweet, but I don't like the nn Clem because it is very US southern hick to me. I think if I went with Clementine she would be nicknamed Teeny.

Reborn dolls are those dolls that some find creepy because they are made to look like real babies. I find them really cool and would have loved one when I was 10-13. Now, I just find them really expensive and I work with babies all the time so I don't need a doll to get my "fix" of cuddling something cute.
