Re: Opinions on this long list of girls names
Hannah: One of my favorite names. It sounds intelligent. I don't care how popular it is, I would consider it if I were having a daughter (before I inevitably went with Leah.)
Violet: I'm warming to it. It's very sweet.
Vivienne: I prefer Vivian; I think it has more juice. I like it. It's pretty and not overly frilly. It "pops".
Caroline: It's too pioneer mom to me, probably because of "Little House". Ma was such a nag, I wouldn't name a daughter Caroline. Also, I have an aunt Carol. :P
Madeline: This one has always seemed too...I don't know...upper class to me. It has a coldness to it that I just don't like. It isn't BAD, though. Maddie is cute.
Mia: I like Mia. Some people say it's too nickname-y, but I think it's fine. I like the way it sounds; it reminds me of a self-assured, confident girl who doesn't need a lot of bells and whistles for people to notice her.
Juliet: I prefer Julia or Julianne. Juliet is tragic for obvious reasons.
Faith: This seems to be the go-to name for people who have preemies or babies with health problems. As a name, I think it's just okay. Kind of boring.
Tessa: Never liked it. Seems harsh, and it reminds me of "tesseract", or "testicle".
Sabrina: Pretty, but too princess-y for me. I couldn't consider it with a straight face, if I brought it up to my husband I would just start laughing. It's not our style at all.
Celina or Selena: Selena gets my vote. Like the meaning, like the singer. Good associations, IMO.
Hazel: Warm, but ugly. I wouldn't like to be Hazel, so I wouldn't bestow it on another person.
Rose: I like it. Simple, pretty, timeless. Reminds me of "Titanic".
Susanna: Tack an "H" at the end, and you got yourself a deal. I prefer Suzanne, though.
Victoria: It's okay. I don't have strong feelings about it.
Alexandra: Usable, if only for Alex. I love Alex on a girl, and I would never call her Alexandra. Put me in front of the BtN firing squad. ;)
Catalina: Reminds me of "My Name Is Earl". It's okay, but I would never use it.
Catarina: I prefer Katarina.
Alicia: Cute. Wouldn't mind if it made a comeback.
Sofia:...the First. My nieces love that show. :)
Bethany: It's okay, but I love Beth. Beth is straightforward and resourceful and smart. Bethany is kind of a drip.
Genevieve: NMS. Sounds snooty.
Gemma: This is more like it. Gemma is nice and stable. Willoughby wolloughby willina, an elephant sat on Billina.
Willoughby wolloughby wirfak, an elephant sat on Mirfak.
