A Question about Xan, and it's popularityI was surprised to see so many suggestions for "Xan", because I've never heard of this nickname before. Is there a character named Xan in a tv show, or somewhere else? Are there a lot of "Xan"s and I've just never met any?Thank you in advance for answering.

The only one I've known was my SO's daughter, but it's spelled Zan. Her full name was Alexandria rather than Alexandra, but close enough. He referred to her as Zan several times and I finally asked what her full name was. I thought it was so cool, I really liked it.Sadly, Zan died a few years ago when she was only in her early thirties. And I always questioned whether or not she was really his daughter, but that's another story for another time and place.

Three boys, one girl, and one transgender female-to-male who won't have to change his nickname. I prefer Alex as a nn for Alexander and Zan for Alexandra.

I have two male cousins named Alex. I seem to know more boys than girls with the nickname. I like Exie/Exa for a girl.

I know more boys that go by Alex. I actually can't think of any girls; the ones I know with Alex- names are Alexis, Alexa, etc. and they all (to the best of my knowledge) go by their full name. I love Sandy as a nickname for Alexander and Alexandra both. I think it's so cute and retro. My boyfriend's name is Alex. Just Alex, no full name or middle name.

I think more boys? But it's close, I've known many of each, most were Alexander or Alexandra, but there was a boy Alexei and a girl Alexis.I would call a boy Sander or Lex. Maybe Xander as its slightly more intuitive than Sander.A girl I would call Lexi.

As far as I know, all the Alexes I have known have been just Alex, except for one whose name is Alexei or similar spelling.
I have not known personally any female Alexes; Lexi seems to be the go-to nickname for Alexandra or Alexis. For a boy I don't mind Alex, but for Alexandra I think I'd rather see Allie or maybe Sandy. But I don't much like the name Alexandra anyhow. I prefer Alexis with no nickname.

I've known more boys than girls nicknamed Alex.Alex is my favorite nickname for both Alexander and Alexandra, but I also like Sandy for both, Xander and Lex for Alexander, and Ali, Xan, and Sasha for Alexandra. Anything but Lexi. Alec and Alexa are favorites of mine, too, but I prefer them as standalones.

My nephew is named Alex. He was supposed to be Alexander but his surname ended in er and my sister didn't care for that. Funny thing, he changed his surname later in life so Alexander would have worked after all. I really haven't known many people named Alexander. My kids have known a few, though. My fave nn for Alexander is Xan. It just feels the most natural to me. I also like Alec. For a girl, I like Alex and Allie. My bff's dd is named Alexandra (Allie).

I've known more boys than girls in real life with the nn Alex. I've only known 2 girls.I like Alec, Sacha and Xander best as nns for Alexander. Alex is okay. Lex isn't really my cup of tea.I like Sasha for Alexandra but I prefer just Sasha on its own. Same goes for Alex, I like it as a nn but prefer Alix on its own. Lexie and Sandy are okay too.

I've only known 1 or 2 girl Alex's. The vast majority were boys. Xan is my favorite nn for Alexander, followed by Xander.
Xanna or Xandra for Alexandra.

Probably more girls. I know one Alex who is just Alex.Xander is nice. Tbh, I think Alexander and Alexandra are nice on their own.

An equal amount. If I was picking a nn for either gender, I'd go with Alex just because that's the most intuitive shortening to me, but I also like...Alec, Xander, Sasha, Sacha, Alexis, Aleksey, Sondra, Ali.

I've known more girls, but it's pretty even. I knew a surprising amount of guys named Alex, like, not Alexander. Also, one guy's full name was Aleixo.Xan's a kind of cool nickname for either.
