At least 9 that I've known well.- Aunt Mary, my favorite aunt
- Next Door Neighbor Mary, is like an aunt to me
- Mary Catherine, close friend of neighbor Mary. I think she is named Mary Catherine, but it might be Mary Alice.
- Mary Catherine, Dad's childhood friend. Often goes by Katie.
- Mary Terese, Dad's childhood friend. Sometimes goes by Tess but usually goes by Terese or Mary Terese.
- Mary Anne, she often goes by Annie. The final Mary sibling who is good friends with my dad, my aunt, and uncles. They are all double fn Mary's. They also have 3 or 4 brothers.
- Mary who goes by Fifi, mother to the three Mary daughters above, she is my grandmother Jean's best friend. She was given the nn Fifi by her children since she is always so well dressed.
- Mary the mother of a close friend of mine in middle school named Ashley. We still talk sometimes on FB.
- Mary from middle school, she was best friend's with a girl named Mira. When I was in college I met her again because she works at a dance studio my sister was taking lessons at.I feel like I may have known other Mary's who I am forgetting. Other than the one from middle school all the Mary's I can remember are my parent's age or older.

I know one Mary and was acquainted with a Mary Anne in school.

My mom's name was Mary. I also know a Mary who is 14, and I once knew a hairdresser whose name was Mary.

Only about one or two. In Brazil, we usually use Maria instead.

I know a Mary a few years older than me (so mid 30s), a Mary who's like 3, and I suppose a few of them around my parents' age (60ish).

My mom and a friend's mom are both Mary Margaret. I went to college with a Mary Catherine. My parents are friends with two Mary Ellens and a Mary Sue, and there are several other Marys whose middle names I do not know.

I know a baby named Mary who was just born two weeks ago.Quite a few of my friend's moms are named Mary, I can think of 4 off the top of my head. All in their 50s-60s.I graduated with two Mary's (both ~25 years old today). So, approximately 7 I know personally, but I'm sure I encounter more all the time.

I don't know exactly. I had an aunt named Mary. There were several in my classes all the way from K-12. I knew them at church and at work as well. I'd say enough to know the name existed but never on the popularity level of a Lisa, Jennifer, Jessica, Emily, etc.

About ten. Love the name!

One; she's my age, and she uses it as an anglicisation of her birth name.

One. She was an old childhood friend that I used to argue with a lot, so I view this name in a negative light now because of her.

Mary Jo - aunt
Mary Lou - fellow resident at my home for the blind
Maria - friend

None.
A friend of a friend in the US has a small Mary, but I've never met her.

None. It's not very common here. I know a girl who has a niece called Mary, but that's all.
Maria, on the other hand, I've known heaps. Same with Anna. Every other woman here is named Maria or Anna.

One and she's five years old. I have always loved the name and it's so nice to see / hear it on a child.

Same!
The 'just Mary' is Mary Margaret. Both are in college. I also had a really sweet teacher whose name was Mary.

1, she's 18.

Two. One professor I took several classes from and one student who was in those classes. I've known a lot more Marias and Merediths than Marys.

Only one that I can think of!But my mom used to be in a sewing group with an old lady named Merry.

Girl in my grade in elementary school: Mary 1
Girl my sister was friends with in high school: Mary 2
Girl I used to babysit for: Mary 3
Woman my mother was friends with: Mary 4
Woman my stepmother was friends with: Mary 5
B.'s former mother-in-law: Mary 6
Secretary of the bowling league: Mary 7
My former landlady: Mary 8
Daughter's friend's mother: Mary 9
Daughter's other friend's mother: Mary 10So 10, but it's possible I'm forgetting one or a few. I didn't count the Mary Beth and Mary Kate that I knew, because a double name doesn't seem the same as just Mary to me.

I love how you listed them like that! I agree that a double name does not seem like just Mary.

I know 2 plus a Mary Alice. I've met a lot of Marys over the years, though — one yesterday.

Currently I know a Mary, a Mary who goes by her middle name, which is Robin, a Mary Lee, a Mary Beth, and a Mary Alice. Those last three go by both names.
But I have known several more Marys in the past. They range from Mary Beth's age, which is maybe 9 or 10? to very old.

I personally know three Marys, a Mary Jo (which I later discovered was Mary Joanne), and a Mary-Rita. And I've spoken to countless others, either just Mary or Mary-DoubleName.
